okay I haven’t seen Anyone talk about this on tumblr but the most important election for AI regulation is happening right now in a New York democratic primary

Alex Bores passed the RAISE Act, the most comprehensive AI regulation in the USA, and then got targeted by OpenAI and Palantir - who are spending millions of dollars to make sure he’ll lose. Because he would actually regulate tech companies if he were in Congress. He’s in a super tight race and, if he loses, the superpac that went up against him will use this to show other policymakers that they’ll never get elected if they stand up to AI companies.

The superpac that’s targeting Alex is the SAME GROUP behind the push for crypto in 2024. They targeted a candidate who supported crypto regulation and, when that person lost, made it the narrative that you can’t get elected if you stand up to big tech. They think they can do it again for AI

The election happens in 8 days and will be decided by a few thousand votes. If you’re anti-AI I’d beg you to support Alex Bores in any way you can. Like texting any friends or family who live in New York to see if they’re in his district, NY-12, or if they know anyone who lives there
