One year ago today, at a Memorial Day Parade, I met the most amazing man and the love of my life. I still remember the first time I saw him and thinking how handsome he was. Our friends introduced us and we hit it off really well! Fast forward a couple months, to one of our first few dates, where our very first photos together were taken (shown here). Little did I know what the Lord had in store for us, but there was certainly a lot of hope for the future! Fast forward to now, and we have 130 days to go til we are husband and wife. Sometimes Iām afraid to pinch myself because it feels like a dream. Josh has shown me what true and sacrificial love is the past 365 days and this past year has been the best year of my life. We have been through good times and hard times but they have brought us closer together, and most importantly closer to the Lord. The more I see how much Josh loves me and always shows me forgiveness, the more I realize how much Jesus loves me. Honestly, today was a hard day. A year ago today, I received the worst news Iāve ever heard. My Aunt Allie had passed away suddenly due to a diabetic coma. I felt so much heartbreak. How could someone so bubbly and full of life be gone? Yet even though she had left this earth, she was not dead. In fact, on the day that I received the worst news I am confident that she received the best news: she was going to see Jesus that very day! Because of the cross, Jesus took the penalty for our sin. Because of the debt Jesus paid, we are saved from the wrath of God. Because of our faith in Christ, we donāt have to be separated from God when we die. We get to spend eternity in Christ, alongside our brothers and sisters worshipping Him! Because of the cross, I will one day see my aunt again, no longer suffering from Type 1 diabetes, but giving me the biggest hug and feeling total and complete joy. And that, my friends, is the reason I have hope. This is what I cling to amidst the heartbreak, the tears, and the āwish she could be here for thisā moments.
