Wed 2nd Sept ‘15. 15:39 // Apologies for the radio silence over the summer, it was much busier than expected but I’m back now!
Today was training day for the new school year and this is how much paper and information I was given! Here’s to tomorrow, the first day of teaching here!
Mon 8th June '15. 17:41 // My last final is in the morning so I'm back in the college library with one last night of revision. It feels a little strange that this will be my last night ever of working in this library.
Be happy. Even if the only thing that makes you happy is your morning tea. Live for that morning tea intake. Make it marvelous. Get excited about it. Buy mugs, buy a tea maker, buy a massive stock of teas so you can have an endless variety. Maybe learn how to make it, open up a tea business. Let that small happiness, whatever it is, become your passion. It’s what will keep you alive.

Sun 7th June '15. 21:39 // Tonight is my penultimate night of revision. Two more finals and then at noon on Tuesday I will be finished with my degree! (With the exception of my dissertation viva.)

Wed 3rd June '15. 00:17 // My next final is in less than nine hours and I'm so under-prepared. 'Bricking it' is the correct term to us right now I think.
When you get your exam results, do you get a mark for each paper between 1-100 or do you just get your final degree classification for that year without knowing the individual marks?
It can vary between subjects I think. For me, I usually get my class mark for the year and then a few days later the individual paper marks are put online (1-100, though it’s basically 1-80, it’s incredibly rare to get 80+). In first year I got my ranking as well but I didn’t in second year.

Hi everyone. Sorry for falling off the map, things got a bit hectic and I lost all free time. But I’m back, and revamping my blog to help me keep studying over the summer, and start applying to colleges.

“An 8-year-old Mighty Girl has won a victory for gender equality in children’s books after a major publisher agreed to stop labeling books “for boys” and “for girls” following her petition drive. Els of London, England was annoyed to discover that an enticing pirate book in the Scholastic book fair catalog was titled “for Boys”. After her mother Leone told her to “stop griping and do something,“ Els set up a petition calling on the publisher to stop dividing books by gender and began collecting signatures at her school. Scholastic UK was very responsive and removed the “boys” and “girls” sections on its online Book Wizard and pledged to no longer publish books that declare they are for a specific gender in the title. Els was thrilled by the response and explained to The Independent why she believes that this is an important change: “Girls may not like things that are labelled ‘for girls’, they might want a monster book labelled ‘for boys’. Books should be for everyone and we all like different things. If you tell a girl she could not have one of the books she likes, when she grows up she might feel lonely because she thinks that all the other girls like pretty, pink princesses and she doesn’t… I don’t want my friends to grow up being sad and lonely because they think they are different. They should be happy because we are all different and different is the best.” Kudos to Els for taking a stand against gender stereotyping!
