"This picture of Morehouse graduates drenched in rain yesterday has surprisingly caused quite a stir. Many are saying it’s indicative of Morehouse not having the money or common decency to implement a rain plan. If you see that when you look at this picture, I’m going to politely take the liberty to call you a cynic. To me this picture symbolizes the journey that so many black men endure everyday of their lives as they face countless obstacles yet continue to pursue success with unwavering determination. It is cynical to ignore the fortitude and thirst for knowledge in these men’s eyes for an opportunity to knock/shade/read Morehouse. Rain can’t stop the House, & life’s obstacles won’t stop these men…”
I’m here for all of this.
Gave me chills.

Black on Purpose
Some say the Afar people are descendants of the Egyptian pharaohs. They share some similarities in the way the men wear their hair and shawls draped loosely over their shoulders, words of their language, and use of symbols reminiscent of hieroglyphics to mark their camels.

Dc internal AFfiars stole my taper kit to prove the sperm found on my clothes. They even stole my bday gown ὡ2 now after they promised to help me they won’t return my calls. This police system set up to help us is blind. They denied my jury trial so they can hire their cooked judges to throw my life away. Anyone who knows me knows my sweet nature. Now they say an unconious person who clearly had been dragged by her feet was able to beat up five police offices. They even faked pics and edited my police cell video but destroyed the video outside of park place indc that proves my innocent and there #PoliceBrutality Please support by sharing & Hashtag #justiceforjulia #MediaBlackOutUSA #MikeBrown #Ferguson Let’s get Justice for @junglebarbiejulia Tag 5 people to help spread the word.” (#RepostWhiz app)

15 questions white people will never have to ask themselves
Many white people may never truly understand why incidents like the Michael Brown shooting infuriate blacks and other people of color — even when it’s clear that race plays a large, looming role in how the situation snowballed to the 18-year-old’s death.
This is in part because white people can move through daily life without constantly thinking about how their race will be perceived. Part of having white privilege is the freedom from worrying about racism, a freedom their black counterparts have never known. But it gives black people a unique yet challenging perspective by which they navigate the world.

#9 and always #13. When I got followed/constantly “asked for help” in Whole Foods, I was like, “Oh shit, that’s right, I’m Black!” Because honestly it’s not something that I’m constantly thinking of. I just live.
And #13. I stay away from watermelon and chicken at functions because I don’t wanna hear about shit (but it’s a rock and a hard place. bc I love watermelon and chicken)
Senegal
halftheskymovement:
Four female computer engineers in Senegal have joined forces to open up the country’s first technology hub run by and for women. "We want to be a role model for girls and for women in tech. They think it’s just for men," says 26-year-old Awa Caba, a specialist app designer and co-founder of Jjiguene Tech Hub. She and her colleagues offer free IT training and programming courses to women and girls. To further help the young women go on to thrive in Senegal’s IT sector, the staff also provide coaching for confidence. Such has been the popularity of the hub that the number of women attending on a regular basis has grown from four to 65 in under two years. Read more via BBC News.
