hiya writers and readers on tumblr

it's 2025 and I really wanna get my book ready for, at least beta reading, if not publishing. Meaning, I am not only working on this wlw fantasy story about a bisexual icon becoming the villain, female rage against the patriarchy and friends to lovers to enemy, but also to become a better writer in general.

So, this will be kind of a little series, where I post (hopefully) every day about my writing exercises, what I learned and what I've worked on for my book that day.

I'd love to see if other authors do the same and perhaps build a supportive community of like-minded people struggling to make art in a fast-consuming, ai orientated society.

Here are my guidelines/rules that hopefully connects with the right people:

write without pressure, we wanna have fun

NO AI, never AI, not even for [blank]. Never ever.

no envy, we support and learn from other writers who seem to be a few steps ahead of us

we listen to BIPOC readers, writers and other creatives and implement what we learned from them if we write BIPOC coded characters when we're not, in fact, bipoc.

same goes for lgbtq+

and remember: art is ALWAYS political

Hayden and Ilya are actually friends by The Long Game. They're Vitriolic Best Buds, a very old trope. They're Bugs Bunny & Daffy Duck.

The ONLY time Hayden genuinely takes issue with Ilya and pushes the subject is in My Dinner With Hayden (to ILYA, while ILYA is there provoking him, not to Shane, because he is feeling protective of Shane, not angry with him- the subject of his anger is very clearly ILYA), and Shane yells at both of them about it and he immediately sees the error of his ways and apologizes. IMMEDIATELY.

It is canon that he is enough of a well-meaning idiot to question the relationship in a pretty dickish way! I will give you that! But it is also canon that he only does it once and when Shane gets mad he understands he was being a dick, apologizes, and doesn't do it again.

And again, by the time of The Long Game (two years after My Dinner With Hayden)- he and Ilya are Daffy and Bugs. They don't hate each other. They are pretending to for the sake of the bit.

#my-hayden-pike headcannons:

• Before he was even in the NHL, hayden was, for a brief period of time, a lizard dad. He did have to give her to a cousin of his when he moved in with jackie into their marital home, but still remembers shimmer every once in a while

• Oldest of 3 kids

• Can fix literally anything.

• Hooked up with men twice in college and acknoledges the fact that he may be bi but really doesnt have any thing else to add to that little part of his life; jackie does know about, they have discussed the concept of threesomes like giggly teenagers gossiping about their teachers one or twice

• Got diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 34 after Ruby did at age 13
