adopting/fostering theo would be an incredibly selfish thing for buck to do (and an incredibly weird message for the show to send). it's not in the kid's best interest. that kid likely has loving capable adults in his life. he has a life, network, community. it would be selfish for a stranger to uproot him bc he can. it would be weird to suggest that a stranger is better able to care for theo bc the two of them happen to share dna.

i think it's fine to say "it's just a tv show" to yourself if you want to have a more chill relationship with the show and don't really care to analyze it but it's not okay to say "it's just a tv show" to other people when they are voicing their very real and valid complaints and criticisms
