HELLO EVERYPONY!! I uploaded my take on the Dispatch Trend onto TikTok, but most of my goats are on Tumblr so you guys get to see it too. I LOVE Dispatch, but you know what I love even more? VAT7K. So here’s a Vat7k version of that trend because I LOVE THEM!! Ramble under cut!
So I was thinking long and hard about everyone’s roles in team radical. Obviously, Varian is the leader. He basically just accidentally started a travel group when he had NO intentions of doing so, but turns out it benefits him HEAVILY in the end. (He didn’t think he’d thrive so much around people so much like him!) but he’s basically the guy with the plan. Usually. He’s the Leader, the Brains, the Spirit, the guy who has the final say in most things because everyone else trusts his judgement. (Usually)
Hugo, I wasn’t really sure at first. Obviously he’s just as much of an alchemist as Varian, but I feel like the others depend on him more as a bait. Hugo’s sneaky and everyone knows this. He’s a natural born thief, a liar, a cheater, just a really smart guy, and he knows the streets the best out of anyone in the crew. I think everyone relies on him heavily through the trials because his stats are HIGH. He’s been trained for agility stuff and they need a guy who’s able to jump out windows and climb through trees or whatever. So he’s the stealth. He’s the guy with the lock-picker, the guy with multiple knives on him, basically just prepared for everything.
Yong, I also wasn’t sure at first. Sometimes I wonder why Varian would willingly let a 12-14 year old accompany him on a journey through life threatening trials, but then I remember that Varian knows a lot, but sometimes he needs to be balanced out. Yong has such a different way of thinking than most people and I feel like this works well with the rest of the team. Yong is kind of a nut-job and I think this is important to his character. He’s chaotic, his ideas are chaotic, his explosions are chaotic—he’s just overall a natural disaster (intentionally and unintentionally) and I think it’s a good fit to have his role be the wild card. You don’t know WHATS going to happen with that kid. And I think over time he accepts that this is his nature and there’s nothing WRONG with him, like his family always used to say. He’s perfect just the way he is and we love him!!! <3
Nuru was pretty easy to make a decision for, because she already technically has a role. She’s the navigator, and she originally does this by the constellations on her dress, but I hated that idea because it’s impractical and kinda dumb, so she’s just generally looking at maps and scrolls and finding the group’s way by looking at the stars. She has hella good intuition and social awareness and a crazy good sense of direction, and this is very important because everyone else is dumb and stupid. She’s the glue. She keeps the boys in check!!
I feel like this makes the group work really well together. Everyone has their parts to play and I think each characters dynamic works SUPER well with one another. My favorite duo BY FAR is Nuru and Hugo, because they’re so so so different and they’ve been raised in completely different worlds and ways, but they were raised independent in some way, and I feel like their dynamic is very important to the narrative. I think Hugo eventually obtains character development by accepting her as a friend, and I think Nuru also gets development through being honest about her home life with him. I need a scene where they both confide in eachother, and Nuru finally opens up to someone about the meteors being heavily traumatic for her, and Hugo realizes that he’s not the only one who’s experienced hardship.
I LOVE TJEM SO MUCH. Sorry this ramble became something NOT really related to the video but I hope you enjoyed. Cheers!
