Can't afford art school?
After seeing post like this 👇
And this gem 👇
As well as countless of others from the AI generator community. Just talking about how "inaccessible art" is, I decided why not show how wrong these guys are while also helping anyone who actually wants to learn.
Here is the first one ART TEACHERS! There are plenty online and in places like youtube.
📺Here is my list:
Proko (Free, mostly teaches anatomy and how to draw people. But does have art talks and teaches the basics.)
Marc Brunet (Free but he does have other classes for a cheap price. Use to work for Blizzard and teaches you everything)
Aaron Rutten (free, tips about art, talks about art programs and the best products for digital art)
BoroCG (free, teaches a verity of art mediums from 3D modeling to digital painting. As well as some tips that can be used across styles)
Jesse J. Jones (free, talks about animating)
Jesus Conde (free, teaches digital painting and has classes in Spanish)
Mohammed Agbadi (free, he gives some advice in some videos and talks about art)
Ross Draws (free, he does have other classes for a good price. Mostly teaching character designs and simple backgrounds.)
SamDoesArts (free, gives good advice and critiques)
Drawfee Show (free, they do give some good advice and great inspiration)
The Art of Aaron Blaise ( useful tips for digital art and animation. Was an animator for Disney. Mostly nature art)
Bobby Chiu ( useful tips and interviews with artist who are in the industry or making a living as artist)
Sinix Design (has some tips on drawing people)
Winged canvas (art school for free on a verity of mediums)
Bob Ross (just a good time, learn how to paint, as well as how too relax when doing art. "there are no mistakes only happy accidents", this channel also provides tips from another artist)
Scott Christian Sava (Inspiration and provides tips and advice)
Pikat (art advice and critiques)
Drawbox (a suggested cheap online art school, made of a community of artist)
Skillshare (A cheap learning site that has art classes ranging from traditional to digital. As well as Animation and tutorials on art programs. All under one price, in the USA it's around $34 a month)
Human anatomy for artist (not a video or teacher but the site is full of awesome refs to practice and get better at anatomy)
Second part BOOKS, I have collected some books that have helped me and might help others.
📚Here is my list:
The "how to draw manga" series produced by Graphic-sha. These are for manga artist but they give great advice and information.
"Creating characters with personality" by Tom Bancroft. A great book that can help not just people who draw cartoons but also realistic ones. As it helps you with facial ques and how to make a character interesting.
"Albinus on anatomy" by Robert Beverly Hale and Terence Coyle. Great book to help someone learn basic anatomy.
"Artistic Anatomy" by Dr. Paul Richer and Robert Beverly Hale. A good book if you want to go further in-depth with anatomy.
"Directing the story" by Francis Glebas. A good book if you want to Story board or make comics.
"Animal Anatomy for Artists" by Eliot Goldfinger. A good book for if you want to draw animals or creatures.
"Constructive Anatomy: with almost 500 illustrations" by George B. Bridgman. A great book to help you block out shadows in your figures and see them in a more 3 diamantine way.
"Dynamic Anatomy: Revised and expand" by Burne Hogarth. A book that shows how to block out shapes and easily understand what you are looking out. When it comes to human subjects.
"An Atlas of animal anatomy for artist" by W. Ellenberger and H. Dittrich and H. Baum. This is another good one for people who want to draw animals or creatures.
Etherington Brothers, they make books and have a free blog with art tips.
📝As for Supplies, I recommend starting out cheap, buying Pencils and art paper at dollar tree or 5 below. If you want to go fancy Michaels is always a good place for traditional supplies. They also get in some good sales and discounts. For digital art, I recommend not starting with a screen art drawing tablet as they are usually more expensive.
For the Best art Tablet I recommend either Xp-pen, Bamboo or Huion. Some can range from about 40$ to the thousands.
💻As for art programs here is a list of Free to pay.
Clip Studio paint ( you can choose to pay once or sub and get updates. Galaxy, Windows, macOS, iPad, iPhone, Android, or Chromebook device. )
Procreate ( pay once for $9.99 usd, IPAD & IPHONE ONLY)
Blender (for 3D modules/sculpting, animation and more. Free)
PaintTool SAI (pay but has a 31 day free trail)
Krita (Free)
mypaint (free)
FireAlpaca (free)
Aseprite ($19.99 usd but has a free trail, for pixel art Windows & macOS)
Drawpile (free and for if you want to draw with others)
IbisPaint (free, phone app ONLY)
Medibang (free, IPAD, Android and PC)
NOTE: Some of these can work on almost any computer like Clip and Sai but others will require a bit stronger computer like Blender. Please check their sites for if your computer is compatible.
So do with this information as you will but as you can tell there are ways to learn how to become an artist, without breaking the bank. The only thing that might be stopping YOU from using any of these things, is YOU.
I have made time to learn to draw and many artist have too. Either in-between working two jobs or taking care of your family and a job or regular school and chores. YOU just have to take the time or use some time management, it really doesn't take long to practice for like an hour or less. YOU also don't have to do it every day, just once or three times a week is fine.
Hope this was helpful and have a great day.

hate hate hate how sites are increasingly trying to make right click saving images impossible. facebook, instagram, reddit (app), pinterest*, etc... all make you jump through hoops just to save an image. can you guys not please. how ddo i make them stop. can we get one of those EU regulations or whatever that makes them all comply, or are we going to have to wait for global socialism for that. ugh

Lil' drawing of Byleth from Fire Emblem Three Houses.
Lovely little game. Note to self: Don't spend all your time buffing your house's characters instead of recruiting from the other houses, unless you wanna end up having to kill *a lot* of children.
...I still hear their screams.
Contrary to popular belief the biggest beginner's roadblock to art isn't even technical skill it's frustration tolerance, especially in the age of social media. It hurts and the frustration is endless but you must build the frustration tolerance equivalent to a roach's capacity to survive a nuclear explosion. That's how you build on the technical skill. Throw that "won't even start because I'm afraid it won't be perfect" shit out the window. Just do it. Just start. Good luck.
I'm getting jumped in the notes here with "easier said than done" and that's true, so I am by NO MEANS a professional with professional-level art off the top of my head here's some tangible things to help with your frustration tolerance.
It never goes away. Like. Literally ever. "It's so hard and I keep stumbling over it" yeah. Never goes away. For anyone. Keep that in mind.
While you do have to train your eye to get better at drawing, which means you have to look at good art, you also have to stop only looking at artwork made by professionals or people who've been doing it longer than you. Jealous of another 21-year-old whose art is better than you? Block or mute. Lol. It doesn't matter who cares. Jealousy is ugly and you should work on that but feelings like that don't just go away and so if it's not hurting anyone just get that out of your sight. Unblock/mute when you're in a better headspace.
If you can't keep your drawings to yourself then have a dedicated set of artist friends to complain with or hold each other accountable. Preferably people of your same skill level. And no I don't mean a huge discord server full of randos, like, your actual friends, chances are you're only going to get your feelings hurt if in you're some huge buttfuck discord server where people are busy doing god knows what and they either ignore your posts or just leave reacts.
What actually helps ease this is by practicing in bulk. Everyone tells you art is like a muscle and you have to train it constantly, with rest, but constantly. And what this means realistically is you're more likely to learn by drawing something repetitively. Say you're struggling to draw a profile. Don't waste hours getting one drawing of a profile right. If it sucks just start over again. Repeat. Literally the fastest and most efficient way with almost every drawing roadblock is just start over again. The time will pass anyways etc etc.
Confidence is won through effort! Confidence is not so much a feeling as it is the cumulative result of the work you put in. (I read this on reddit one time and never forgot it.)
6. This is a really tough one but you'll have to substitute motivation for discipline.
7. I mean. You don't have to be good at art man. It's fine. You do have to weigh in how much you actually want to get to a certain skill level and weigh it against the amount of effort you're willing to put in. If you're fine where you are that's fine!!! It's fine!!!
I've thought about this for a bit, and it feels like one big help for the frustration is to just try to do stuff that's disproportionately easy to do compared with how good It looks.
When I was starting out, this was drawing eyes. I'm not sure why, but just using an eraser to get that small highlight in the pupil just felt *awesome*. Like, it just looked 100% better in an instant, in my mind.
I don't think that made me improve much (If at all), but It was a nice mood boost, and It helped me go on with the things I struggled at.
Also worked with learning the guitar. Playing around with power chords and stuff. It's just dumb stuff that makes your brain feel good.
Heeeey it's been...a while, and in that time i've sorta gotten obsessed with the persona series...whoops! Anyways, here's Joker and Violet, I love these two goofs.

This a million times over. Sometimes I don't really have the words for it so I give it an updoot, but it's a show of sympathy! I'm not like:
Random ask, because it just came to mind:
Social etiquette.
Growing up, I was taught to not ask too many questions since it could be considered rude or prying. So, I learned to just listen to the people around me and to learn their stories from general conversations that they offered casually without "prying." Basically, being quiet and hearing everything. (Baggage. Just baggage. XD)
This was all fine and dandy in a casual group at church, in an online forum or chat, or at school, but in getting to know a complete stranger not associated with anyone I knew, I often felt at a loss.
Just walking up and asking questions felt rude, but so did talking about myself or something random if the person did not know me. It was worse if it was a guy I had a crush on because social rules cautioned against the "friend zone" (which absolutely was not real, but the world did not teach you that back then).
So, my question is, what are your thoughts on social etiquette when it comes to making friends? Meeting people, and so on?
Do you have any real opinions about it, or do you just go with the flow?
(This is random. I know. It just kind of crossed my mind. I will fullheartedly admit that I overthink things, but I know that I have my reasons).
Hah you're not the only one when it comes to overthinking!
That said, I personally can't remember having many issues asking questions. Like, maybe i'm just not very good at coming up with topics (matter of fact, that's why I haven't sent you more asks... sorry about that :v), because what always seemed to trip me up in conversations was not having much to say.
Also, I don't think I was ever told not to ask too many questions, maybe I just dodged that bullet in particular.
One thing that i'll say is that, as i've grown older, it felt like most of these "social interaction" problems didn't necessarily go away, instead they just stopped bothering me.
Like, now I don't feel bad that I struggle to break the ice, I just don't feel the need to do it, since I do have a bunch of friends who I love.
Now my woes are "oh god, why can we only get together to play board games once every 6 months???"
What I don't know, is if my solution was necessarily a good one, basically waiting until it stopped bothering me. Because if I just decided to move to another city, basically losing a lot of my connections, then i'd be in a bit of a pickle for meeting new people.
Oh yeah also, personally, I think online, the rules are a bit different. I don't *know* if it's considered inpolite, but I feel 100% free to barge into people's posts, ask em' stuff, so on, and I do think people are 100% free to block me if it turns out i'm annoying. It's fine, you know? If we ain't vibing we ain't vibing.
But yeah, how do I try to get to know a complete stranger? I guess my answer is "don't try, and sometimes it'll happen anyway".
Reblog if you are ASEXUAL, SUPPORT ASEXUALS, or really really want to WEAR A REALLY FANCY BLACK CAPE
Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt! 🦉🌲
I’m a total simp for this character, every time I play Hades I always want to grab her boons first. 😊

I love the symbolism with Zagreus' runs.
He's the god of life, so him and the river of the dead go in opposite directions. The Styx flows from the land of the living to the land of the dead, while Zagreus fights upwards.
In a way he's like all mortals, because we all struggle to stave off death, but we also all eventually do end up getting taken by the Styx, in the same way he does.
Now for a tangent: I like to imagine Thanatos eventually befriends Artemis with Zag's help, because then Zag sorta acts as a middlemen between the two of them. Birth -> Life -> Death, ya know? Kinda matches the river thing.
My sister got really into tarot recently so she did a reading for me, where It showed what my big strength and my big weakness are.
On the strength side everything was mostly fine, 8 of swords, justice, king of cups, and seven of pentacles. Basically, stuff about focus, reflecting on how far I've come, making wise decisions, etc.
Then on the weakness, the card I got was the 9 of swords. Basically, this is a real nasty one. My sister said it's the scariest in the deck, about sleepless nights, a mistake, something opressing me, so on.
Wich is kinda not really fitting, at least as far as i'm aware, because things are *mostly fine* right now. I think. Unless there's some major shitstorm headed my way and I'm actually in for It lol.
Fun stuff, even If i'm not supersticious it's food for thought.
Random Question:
Do you play video games? Just curious. ^_^
I do!! Until a few years back, I mostly played strategy games, since those actually ran fairly well on my toaster pc, but I did play some other stuff too. As of late I finally got a nice gaming laptop, so I've been meaning to branch out and catch up with the last...idk 10 years of gaming?
I have a small list of stuff I wanna go through (No man's sky, Persona 5, Red dead redemption 2, stuff like that) but I've been absolutely obsessed with Hades 1 and 2, as of late. The gameplay is loads of fun, but the story is even better, the characters are all so well written, I can't help but be attached even to the douchebags.
...okay, *most* of the douchebags.
One thing I've always had a bit of a soft spot for, was the slightly weirder Indie games. There was this one called "Diaries of a spaceport janitor" wich was sort of a routine game, and you had a luck stat, where you had to pray and make offerings every now and again to a bunch of goddesses.
The fun thing though, is that the game never told you *what* helped or not, you had to sorta figure It out by choosing when to pray, what to offer, and wich items you should carry with you to bring luck.
Basically, the games's mechanics made you supersticious, and It absolutely blew my mind.
Anyways, how about you? Given your writing about Sepiroth, I think it's safe to say you're into Final fantasy, but i'd love to hear more :v
Cool! Those indie games sound fun. I have a friend who likes Persona games. Never played myself. Heh.
I saw a video or two for Red Dead Redemption 2. Unfortunately, westerns are not my preferred genre in any format, so I never found motivation to try it. A friend of mine did though!
I have definitely heard of the Hades games and would likely enjoy playing. Unfortunately, I am pretty sure that I am struggling with something emotionally because I can't enjoy games the way I used to....which is frustrating because I was 1000% gamer girl all my life--from childhood through college. (Remember the Sega Genesis? Maybe not...but I do! XD)
All of that is to say, I have played...way too many videogames. XDD Computer games (Ski Free, Pipeworks, 3D Pinball, Solitare and Spider Solitare...), NES, Super NES, Sega Genesis, Gameboy and Gamecube (for Pokemon really), Playstation, Switch...
I LOVE videogames...so it is really sad for me that I no longer have the focus or time to play.
I'll play whatever current Pokemon game is out, and FFXIV is my current gaming life.
Outside of that, I own and have partially played the Crash Bandicoot games.
I used to love messing around in Skyrim.
I own Spyro, Tomb Raider, Horizon, Witcher 3, Soulcalibur 6, Kingdom Hearts, Crisis Core Reunion, and--of course--Remake, Rebirth, and FFVI. I have played all of Remake, half of Rebirth, most of XVI, and some of KH3...but I have yet to even touch my other games sadly. XD
I also own the SNES classic, and I occassionally play some F-Zero before I rage quit. XD Thinking about, oneday playing FFIII (i.e. VI) on it, but I might wait to do that when the pixel remaster drops on Switch.
I saw that Croc and Gex are getting remasters. REALLY looking forward to playing that old goofy Croc game. Gex, I am on the fence about.
And that's gaming for me, both back then and now! Maybe when I finish my writing/art project, I will take a break from creativity and catch up on some gaming, reading, and learning Blender.
Aw that's a shame, I hope you do manage to regain your passion when it comes to games. It's probably just a momentary thing, it'll pass. It's good that you've got other hobbies specifically for that reason.
I've found that one of the few perks of adulhood is that you have the money to try new things, but you just don't have a lot of time to sink into said new things, wich, you know, sucks, but it does mean you can rotate through them when something gets boring.
(Personally, I do this a lot with Drawing and playing the guitar. Usually, if one's boring, the other one's a blast)
I haven't had the opportunity to play on a sega genesis unfortunately. Never really played many games from that 90s era, but funnily enough, I did play a bunch of games from the Atari 2600. We had one of those suuuper old computers that were all white and had those really stiff keyboards. Anyways, I think my dad installed an emulator on it, and it had a pretty big collection of atari games in it. (River raid, in particular, was a blast)
Also, flash games, soooo many flash games, loved em'. Have you ever heard of Submachine? It was this really long running series of point-and-click games that was *very* hard to actually figure out. When I was a kid I remember I was only able to get through the first one, but the atmosphere in the game was *so* cool, really creepy and it just bleeds that early 2000s vibe.
...I should actually see if my adult brain is actually capable of solving the puzzles now. hmmmmmmm...
Also blender's cool. I've got a coworker who's getting into it and she showed me some tricks she'd learned. It definitely seems like a program where, once you learn all the shortcuts and workflows and such, you can make stuff like twice as quickly.
Must say, i've *considered* playing around with it, and game development in general (I did make a short game in unity a few years back, but it wasn't much). And every now and again the temptation to jump back in hits me like a brick.
It was genuinely really fun stuff, but I haven't gotten back into it because I think splitting my attention with yet another hobby would be a bad idea. Maybe once I get better at the guitar/drawing...
