80 Examples of Fandom Antiblackness
Imagine all of these things being a possibility every single time you log in to your 'escape'!
To my Black readers: You are VALID! You are not sensitive, not 'overreacting', and you had every right to be hurt by the way you've been treated. These are not isolated events! And if people won't stop being racist, they should continue to feel uncomfortable for being so!
To my nonBlack readers: You are not an ally for NOT doing these things, but for STANDING AND SPEAKING UP when they do.
(So APPARENTLY Tumblr won't let you zoom in on Desktop, but I put the lists in the Image Description! Sorry 😬 i did not know Tumblr doesn't allow zoom in on desktop. It's easier to zoom in on mobile.)
I found this post last night after doing my own research about racism towards Bipoc in Fandoms. (Please note, this post I have reblogged is specifically about Anti-Blackness racism)
80 examples and this is just the tip of the iceberg.
This is more than just reblogging or signal boosting posts or changing our moodboards, we (as white people) have to prove ourselves to be a safe space for our peers and friends here and make it the unsafest space possible for racists and bigots, it's not just something you just get to decide.
It's about recognizing when your own actions could be seen as performative allyship or virtue signaling, don't always rely on other people to call you out and if they do, please don't double down, listen and learn, especially to Black users.
Again this isn't something to just move on from until the next time someone we care about is receiving hate, just because we don't always see it doesn't mean it isn't constantly happening, because it is.
That is the very stark reality of it, that users are receiving anon hate and deleting it for fear of making waves or receiving more hate on top of, we saw it happen yesterday to Kat, Dev and Vetty.
But we don't always see it and that is what we have to come to terms with here.
This is a constant moving wheel that we all have to keep turning because if even one person with hatred in their heart thinks your blog is a safe space to allow for it, the rest will trickle in behind them.
Reading fics will wait, this will not.
Imagine all these being a possibility when you log into your 'escape'
Consider the real world now as it is when you think about this statement. The world as it has been for a very long time for Black people, actually.
Please take some time out of your day to do your own research, not just on anti racism in Fandoms, but as a whole.
white fantasy authors: okay so white people are from normalsberg and all nonwhite people are from the mysterious mystical kingdom of mystery world where the sands are mystical and weird. and also theyre ugly ass orcs
fantasy readers: this is fucking awesome. this rocks. youre so good at this man
nonwhite fantasy authors: so the knight is a black woman, and there are no orcs,
fantasy readers: okay what the fuck. can we stop bringing contemporary politics into everything. ugh. this sucks. i dont like this
To the person who submitted this post, the user has already been posted for their offences, and are butthurt. 😂 I will link anyway. 🫡 Thank you for your submission.
Tumblr is a place to express yourself, discover yourself, and bond over the stuff you love. It's where your interests connect you with your
EDIT: IJBOL.
Right, because asking whether a reader insert might be assuming a specific physical reaction is obviously the same thing as demanding writers create a perfectly featureless human-shaped void.
We are TIRED of constantly pointing it out for writers like you that "you blush/flush" "turned pink/red" "fingers through my hair" "white knuckles" and so forth aren't universally applicable. That's not being an "emotional snowflake," it's just basic observation. We aren't fucking stupid, you're fucking careless.
Thin lips and even thinner skin.

Hey so
the last time I reblogged this post right before I got a great job, in a permanent work-from-home position, with benefits, retirement, and a salary literally 3x what I was making before, doing something I really like.
So you know.
This might be the real one, y’all.
I could use some luck

I have never, and will never, use "ofc" to mean "of fucking course". It literally stands for OF Course...
