This is turning into a place to reblog and post about my old anime hyperfixations without my anxiety acting up so that’s what is is now. My main blog is limon-rat where I talk about my ocs, Hatchetfield, Sonic, Ninago, and generally my more niche nerdy stuff along with random bullshit rather than this large anime/manga fandom
Uh, have fun, I'll probably tag my art under #limcandraw
She's a newer one (the newest in my collection of nearly 25), and I adore her. Her quirk, Haunting, is pretty misleading. She's a mutant; the entire concept is that her human body is actually just a shell to host her real body, the goopy mess you see before you. She sort of expands rapidly when she loses control
Here, she's a first year while Tokoyami (not pictured) is in his third year. He and Dark Shadow have adopted her
like this art? it's a print, here! | like what i do? support me on ko-fi!
i'm so bad with dates i didn't even realize today's numbers were 11 and 12 ASKSKS (also i missed POCKY DAY? man, i had an idea for a doodle for that but oh well. i'll still draw it fdgfdhd)
i almost panicked about not having any art for tskym day bc cmon.... they're my boys........ but thankfully i had a deadline to finish some art prints last week and now here we are pftt
the process for this one is a little different from what i'd consider my usual way of drawing. i usually do lineart, flat colors, rendering, and yadda yadda, but maybe it's because i've been doing a lot of painterly disco elysium art lately that i decided to just paint over the scaled-up thumbnail and see where it takes me! (you can see in the timelapse me struggling over cleanly inking tsukki's face before i went 'screw this' LOL)
drawing this was pretty fun! i always wanted to try out my painterly style outside of disco elysium fanart and now i've done it! (well, done it again, bc i've kind of tried it for kghn day too pftt)
there is still something very charming abt the thumbnail in my humble onion, i don't think i was able to retain the exact silent tenderness in tsukki's face from the thumbnail in the final thing but oh well, c'est la vie dghdj (also me drawing yammers with visible nostrils jumpscare [this is only funny to me ASKSK])
every now and then i think i've escaped from [insert fandom here] but then i'll see an edit on tiktok, or a piece of fanart, and then i'm BACK IN THE FUCKING BUILDING AGAIN
Kageyama's backstory only being revealed near the very end of the series is really interesting from a meta perspective.
For reference, his chapter is 387 out of 402. That's 96% of the way in.
To contrast, other characters like Tsukishima and Yamaguchi's backstories are shown in Chapters 87-88.
Now, we do get the explanation for his "King of the Court" title in Chapter 6, at the start of the series, but we don't see how he got to that point, or why he started playing volleyball in the first place like Tsukishima's and Yamaguchi's stories show.
It creates this situation where, despite being the deuteragonist, the character our protagonist, Hinata, is practically glued to the entire series, we barely know anything about him.
We don't even know he has a sister until that point whereas other characters' siblings like Natsu, Saeko, Akiteru, Alisa have all made appearances way before then. Even Oikawa's sister, though we don't see her, we at least know she exists because of Takeru.
He's both closed off to us (the audience) as well as the other characters in the series, and this results in them finding him rude or disliking his character in general (see: the "Kageyama is abusive" discourse that somehow keeps popping up even now).
Chapter 387 takes place in 2018 and was published in 2020 so it takes him 6 years of in-universe time and 8 years of irl time to really open up.
And the catalyst for all of this is Hinata fulfilling his promise of beating him.
You see, another thing to note is that, whenever Hinata thinks of Kageyama, he's always looking at him from behind.
His internal image of him is someone who's always up ahead, someone he needs to catch up to, meaning Hinata can only see one side of him, he cannot see all of Kageyama until he catches up and passes him.
Which he finally does here.
In this shot Hinata is finally the one who's looking back at Kageyama. At this moment, Hinata (and by extension the audience) can see him for all he is, can see how he was just a lonely boy who's been waiting for someone to meet him where he is, to keep running alongside him and not quit the race.
Someone he doesn't have to go easy on. Someone who would actually tell him to hurry up instead of slow down for a change.
i am drawing most of these screenshots in episode order for funsies but with how stressed out i am right now if i didn't warmed up by drawing baby tsukkiyama right now i would've exploded ASKSKS
i asked my friend to give me their favorite kenma official art fit bc i wanted to doodle him soggy but apparently he usually only wears his sweats or his uniform DGHD they sent me a lot but i was thinking of picking this one bc it was the only casual fit and when i realized he was kind of sans undertale-ing it then i HAD to draw this fit DFGHD
