This ask is so similar to the last ask but:
The fact that no one on Tumblr or AO3 knows what codependency is :P
Chuuya and Dazai are not codependent. Chuuya and the Sheep are codependent, because the Sheep rely on Chuuya for safety, while Chuuya relies on the Sheep to give him a sense of worth and belonging, and he doesn't know how to get that aside from giving everything and getting very little back. It's that uneven dynamic that makes codependency so insidious, the person the other relies upon isn't seen as important in terms of their own feelings and wants, only what they can give in the relationship.
Soukoku is meant to like, be the complete opposite of that? Not that they're anywhere near healthy, but like I said before, Chuuya doesn't care if Dazai wants him around or not. And he's quick to call Dazai out on his bullshit. Dazai doesn't rely on Chuuya for his wellbeing like a lot of fics like to portray, he doesn't rely on anyone for helping with his mental illness, which is a huge issue, and arguably why in Beast Dazai's death is so brutal to Chuuya. Chuuya didn't know how bad it actually was, because Dazai didn't tell him or anyone else anything.
Skk's issues come from pushing each other away and not being honest with each other, not codependency. And, in Dazai's case, manipulating the situation on Chuuya's behalf without telling him, thinking it's better than manipulating him directly. He does that to literally everyone he cares about, but Chuuya's probably the one both most sensitive to it and able to see through it the most.
