Okay so, hear me out on this PHM headcanon.

At the end of the movie, Rocky suggests Grace may go back to earth. BUT Erid is about 16,8 light years from here. Grace would die of old age long before he got there... IF they did not utilize Astrophage.

So, hear me out: Eridians could have found a way to do exactly that! Grace was able to handle astrophage on earth as well as on his ship with caution. And our air contains more Co2 than ammonia does (mostly cuz ammonia does not contain any O2 but oh well)

Okay so, basically hear me out. By finding a way to keep astrophage under control, tame them basically by keeping their natural apex predator in hand and control astrophage population (if that makes sense) and with very very very much care.. Rocky and Grace might have just also been inventors of a whole new utilization method of astrophages as power sources on Erid.

So not only would they be hero's for saving the whole fucking world. They'd also change life on Erid forever.

Nitpicky PHM question Pt. II

A normal one to start: Why, at the end of the movie, does Mary state that it would only take 4 years if they had just parted ways. The path from Tauceti would have been 11,9 light years. Did Rocky accompany Grace for 7 years? Did he go faster than light? Technically one would be able to endlessly accelarate in space, since there is no resistance whatsoever. But that is the very concept of speed-of-light, for protons are massless and do also not experience resistance. I don't understand.

Oh also the Earth-ball Grace gave Rocky as a parting gift would be nothing but a ball of wool for Rocky. There's something poetic about this somewhere wait let me cook-

Dumb PHM thoughts

Rocky calls Tauceti-E Middle rough texture Circle Planet. Circle here is futile, though? For something to be classified as a planet it has to be round as a circle. It goes with the definition of being a planet, the translation should have picked up on it if Grace explained it per definition. 

Cuz he used a lot of stuff like Biosphere that was used correctly. Their definitions might differ but Rocky did not ask for his definiton, meaning he had explained scientific terms before. He is a teacher, he would definitely be using exact definitions. Why did he need to clarify it as a circle?

Or, yk, if Grace didn't explain the term, or only via puppetshow (explaining the term planet can easily be attempted by using examples, so there's that) do Eridians have different definitions of planet? A round shape in space suggests a gravitational pull going from that shape. If they do not even have enough gravitational pull on their own, they would not be able to free their orbital path via Accretion/Rejection/Capture. So, basically for Rocky big space rocks or space trash/debris also count as planets? Kind of? Does that mean, if I actually assume Grace explained planets via examples, that Eridians might just be able to exhibit/visit random space rocks? Like humans look/ want to visit different planets? Have they been researching space rocks all these years as well?

If they throw a rock into space, are they creating planets in their opinion? What if they have been making artificial planets all this time? Like China makes artificial Islands? Would that be like a super illegal thing for them to do? Yk they are very spacey, what if they have strict space rules like that too?

Nitpicky PHM movie question i really want to make sense

I rewatched the movie once more and had a question I'd like answered by people smarter than me tbh.

How did Rocky in the movie know to make the 2nd barrier translucent. How did he know what translucent was. Sure, he probably was able to guess that the other did not use echo location. But how did Rocky know to make it translucent. How did he know to make the ball translucent if he does not perceive light. How would he know what material lets light pass. How did he know how to make something translucent. Eridians would have no need to. He would have never had to before. He also would not be able to know what he was making was translucent. Was it an accident? Or is this to be explained simply by cinematic purposes? Pls help me

I hate the word Screenshot for the fact that everytime i write it, I want to abbreviate it. First I try Sh cuz in my head that sounds right-est just to look at it and go "oh golly gosh what did I just do I can't do that" and then i backspace to change it to its rightful acronym, yk the one that make most sense. Screen-Shot. Super easy, what was I even on about, silly me... Until I realize that's somehow even worse.
