The season finale was mostly mid but it did give me the final confirmation that Shauna and Melissa are just Megatron and Starscream in different fonts: Melissa tried to kill Shauna and Shauna let her live even though she definitely would have dropped any other girl who did that.

#is this show well written? after this season I can conclusively say “no”#however we can still have shaunamelissa serial killer wives endgame #so you know. not a total loss #side note i know we're not getting a tf1 sequel but it would be so fucking funny #if we hypothetically did and one of the characters started tripping balls and was like “d-16 and orion got drunk and made out”#that was the funniest way they could have made jackieshauna canon and my favorite part of the episode #yellowjackets spoilers

tbh im not entirely immune to a villain with a tragic backstory but i do think villain origins are a lot more interesting when the focus is less "here is the original sin, the first big bad thing that happened to them that made them who they are" and more "here is the first time a person who maybe otherwise felt powerless in their life realized that they could hurt someone and get away with it"

you can get a lot more mileage out of analyzing a truly abhorrent character through the lens of like. what sort of conditions would allow or even incentivize this kind of cruelty? what kind of person benefits from those conditions and how? over the more typical who hurt them type analysis. imo.
