The above article is an examination of the transgressive subtext in the film Ginger Snaps, focusing on an interpretation of the relationship between Ginger and Brigitte Fitzgerald, exploring themes such as sexual orientation, gender and lycanthropy that are present in the text inasmuch as is allowed within the text to be spoken about - and more interestly, what is not.

It is so disturbing how every time a disabled person is brutally murdered by their caregiver, the conversation revolves around what we can do to give more support to caregivers and not the welfare of disabled people and how to give people with disabilities more agency and support in escaping abusive and neglectful situations. Don’t get me wrong, caregiving is hard but I am so tired of the “I feel so bad for the caregiver, their life was so rough and then they just snapped :(” narrative and not acknowledging that the disabled individual was uniquely vulnerable and completely at the whim of someone who despised them, felt they had no inherent worth and killed them. The rates of abuse experienced by disabled people are always conveniently left out of the narrative. So often it’s twisted into something justifiable, that you should relate to the murderer and not the victim. It is so sick.

Something that burns me alive every time I hear it is “If you don’t have kids, who will take care of you when you’re old?” A child is not a retirement plan. A child is not an advanced directive or a nursing home or a home health aid. A child is not a reliable caregiver you have to groom into shape for 40 years. Hell, you might be a caregiver to your child for the rest of your life. Even if they’re born healthy and happy, they could get hit by a car and have massive brain damage at any point in their life. Do not have a kid solely so you can depend on them. That is a fucking evil reason to have kids.

being anti ai is making me feel like in going insane. "you asked for thoughts about your characters backstory and i put it into chat gpt for ideas". studies have proven its making people dumber. "i asked ai to generate this meal plan". its causing water shortages where its data centers are built. "ill generate some pictures for the dnd campaign". its spreading misinformation. "meta, generate an image of this guy doing something stupid". its trained off stolen images, writing, video, audio. "i was talking with my snapchat ai-" theres no way to verify what its doing with the information it collects. "youtube is impletmenting ai based age verification". my work has an entire graphics media department and has still put ai generated motivational posters up everywhere. ai playlists. ai facial verification. google ai microsoft ai meta ai snapchat ai. everyone treats it as a novelty. every treats it as a mandatory part of life. am i the only one who sees it? am i paranoid? am i going insane? jesus fucking christ. if i have to hear one more "well at least-" "but it does-" "but you can-" im about to lose it. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid the evil machine. have you no principles? no goddamn spine? am i the weird one here?

teacher I worked with in 2022 complained about the Black girl having "distracting" hair bc it was shoulder length 3B curls and she played with it but not the white girl who had waist length straight blonde hair who also played with it, and repeatedly tried to get her to put it in a ponytail. these were preschoolers

the Indigenous student a few grades down at my mother's Catholic school (she teaches) who was forced to either cut his hair or leave

being required to sit through a pro-life demonstration by an outside religious group at my high school to graduate (a vocational school that specialized in biotechnology, in a blue state) because state legislation required abstinence based education, and the science teachers seemed to be aware it would be hypocritical at best and against all of their morals at worst & gave their own version later opted not to leave their regular classes

being in the psych ward and not being asked by staff if I actually wanted to see the noncustodial parent

divorce, but one of the parents sucks, and that one has the money for a much better lawyer. (or appears more personable to the judge for whatever reason)

on that note, not being allowed to provide any statement to a judge about what YOU want to do when your parents divorce
