Villanelle was trained to sense danger even from a mile away. She was trained to access, process and then act on it.
That is why the moment Rhian steps into the room, even if in her most bare and vulnerable state with Eve, Villanelle knows what she needs to do immediately.
And it was to remove Eve from danger.
The old Villanelle would have loved the game of messing up with another assassin without even thinking of the consequences. She would have pissed them off and have her twisted way of fun.
But this Villanelle was different, she was worried and cautious. She knows she could easily take Rhian anytime, Villanelle knows she’s a better killer than this newbie wannabe. But she wouldn’t, couldn’t risk it while Eve was there. Instead of showing her narcissistic side, her protectiveness of Eve came out.
The moment Rhian steps into the room, Villanelle concluded that she’s a ’threat’, not to her but to Eve.
Because after having that honest and heartfelt conversation with Eve of them having a chance of being a ‘couple’ in the near future, Villanelle realizes that now she has someone she wanted to protect.
Someone that she can call ’hers’ without having to own and manipulate them but with the thought that ‘Eve’s heart belongs to hers.’ and Villanelle is happy with just knowing that.
Something that she could look forward too and would do anything for it.
We saw how Villanelle carefully watches Eve leaves, never taking her eyes off of her until she is sure that her ’target’ is nearby.
Then immediately, Villanelle shifts her focus and locks her full attention to Rhian.
Now it’s time for Villanelle act on it.
Villanelle made sure to catch Rhian off guard by showing domination. She knew people like ‘them’ hated not having the control over a certain situation, so she uses it to her advantage. Villanelle wants Rhian to focus her attention on her, and not to the retreating figure of Eve.
A normal worried girlfriend would have looked back to make sure that Eve had already left the room.
But not Villanelle. Once she sets her eyes on Rhian as her target, she never took her eyes off of her, so just she could anticipate her every move.
Because Villanelle was trained to think and act like an assassin and she’ll be damned if she lets this ‘threat’ hurt the woman that she LOVES. ❤️
