The fucked up thing about OFMD is that this show is a comedy—the stakes aren’t significantly higher than other shows—but when you are making what feels like the very first representation in decades of cinematic history, when you are unpacking generational and social trauma and stereotypes, when you are healing people with the simple act of REPRESENTING THEM—a comedy can feel really fucking heavy. OFMD means the whole world to me, but it’s a painful process too—pains me that in nearly a quarter of a century it’s the only piece of media I have that feels like myself. And it’s fucked up that just because of the mere fact that our history as queer people has been erased for so long a “lighthearted” comedy can feel so heavy. I hope that one day, beautifully delivered queer comedies won’t feel so rare that they bring heartache with them. I hope that one day, it’s not the only piece of media someone has that feels like them.
having pussy is gender neutral. having cock is gender neutral. having tits is gender neutral. using 3 in one body wash, shampoo and conditioner is for men though
for the love of god please let the gays run away together at least once successfully
"oh how do the pirates in our flag means death just head out in a rowboat and find each other in the middle of the ocean with no maps or anything???"
Never heard of gaydar? Fucking idiot?
Drowning in my sea of melancholy, your montage of chaos
And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul.
never in a million years would I have thought a PIRATE COMEDY SHOW SET IN THE 18TH CENTURY would have a scene where a gay man sits down with his wife and has a conversation without her about what it means to be in love and then he comes to out to her and tells her he's in love with a man and then she hugs him and helps him fake his fucking death so he can leave his old life behind and wholeheartedly pursue a new life with the man he loves without guilt or shame and yet our flag means death gave us that. I didn't think I'd ever get to know what the opposite of queerbaiting looks like but I saw it today
“How’s it feel? To be in love?” | Our Flag Means Death
+ the actual clip because they really made a Stede/Ed fancam for all of us….
Peasants marry for love.
My original crush
So I’ve recently fallen in a bout of nostalgia and I’ve been rewatching Zorro, the old Disney TV show. And among all the things I’ve talked about here, I’ve probably left out my original crush: Guy Williams as Diego de la Vega <3
I discovered it as a kid, when my parents - who used to watch it when they were kids - introduced my brother and I to it. And what’s not to love ? I loved Diego back then, and I still love him now.
Look at that dashing smile !
And those beautiful three-piece suits!
And he is just a genuinely good guy with a big heart. He’s not driven by revenge, or guilt. He’s not doing it for himself. He serves the people and fight injustice and crime, simply because it’s the right thing to do.
Plus he fights with a sword! And that is a thousand times more classy than any bat-gadgets could ever be.
And there’s his relationship with his father, who is very disappointed in his non-violent philosopher of a son. That always tugs at my heart. Diego immensely enjoys playing the fool to anyone else, except in front of his father.
But luckily for him, he has the best ally in Bernardo ! ;-)
Anyway, I love that series and I love Diego de la Vega. I’m so happy that I found the restored version! Look at those lovely gifs. And look at me, making big ass 7 MB gifs without a care in the world…
(looks like some gifs may take a minute to load but they seem to be working. Let me know if they don’t)
Cuteness overload. ;)

“wait, is this fucking play about us”
respectfully, shows about queer middle-aged characters who do wild nonsensical shit>>>>shows about high schoolers that focus on the exploration of sexuality
