Eastern Bloc Cartoons: Krtek/Krteček
[x]
“Krtek was first to be seen in 1956 in Prague, when Zdeněk Miler wanted to create a children’s cartoon about how flax is processed. Miler wanted the cartoon to be understood in every country of the world, so he decided to use his daughters as voice actors, reducing the speech to short non-figurative exclamations in order to express the mole’s feelings and world perception. They also became the bottleneck of the creation process as they were the ones who got to see the whole film first, thus Miler was able to decide whether the message of the movie was able to get to children or not.”

Today, I went on a sneaky trip to Kroměřiž to visit my exchange friends. I got close to these girls when we roomed together in prague and stayed up all night reading palms. It was real hard to say goodbye, but it was eased by palace gardens, cucumber face masks, and lots of sad music.

why does the king of the netherlands look like a friendly donald trump?
at what point in history do you think americans stopped having british accents
Actually, Americans still have the original British accent. We kept it over time and Britain didn’t. What we currently coin as a British accent developed in England during the 19th century among the upper class as a symbol of status. Historians often claim that Shakespeare sounds better in an American accent.
whAT THE FUCK
I’m too tired for this
Always add in the video that according to linguists, Native southern drawl is a slowed down British.
T’ be or not t’be, y’all.
Fun fact: Same thing happened with the French accent. French Canadians still have the original French accent from the 15th century.
Êt’e ou n’pô zêt’e, vous z’auts.
I’ve been trying to find this post for months. I’m freakishly obsessed with this and want the truth of what early colonists sounded like.

“20 pictures to remind you how we cooked during communism in Czechoslovakia. The frollowing photos will transport you to a Czech kitchen during deep socialism. We believe that many Czech people still have lots of these examples in their homes or definitely in their summer houses.”
We enjoyed this article linked in the content source. Here are the first 10 photos from the article. We have a few of these items in our own kitchen.

Krakow- a city full of fortresses and ice cream and pigeons
spanish and italian: So THESE words are feminine and THESE words are masculine, and you ALWAYS put an adjective AFTER the noun.
french: haha i dont fuckin know man just do whatever

english: *shooting up in the bathroom*
gaelic: the pronounciation changes depending on the gender and what letter the word starts and ends with and hahah i dont even know good fucking luck
polish: here have all of these consonants have fun
japanese: subject article noun article verb. too bad there's three fucking alphabets lmao hope your first language isn't western
welsh: sneeze, and chances are you've got it right. idfk
chinese: here's a picture. draw it. it means something. it can be pronounced four different ways. these twenty other pictures are pronounced the same but have very different meanings. godspeed.
arabic: so here's this one word. it actually translates to three words. also pronouns don't really exist. the gender is all in the verb. have fun!
latin: here memorize 500 charts and then you still dont know what the fuck is happening
sign language: If you move this sign by a tenth of an inch, you'll be signing "penis"
russian: idk man its pronounced like its spelt but good fucking luck spelling it
Greek: so basically we're going to add 15 syllables to every word you know and assign it one of 3 genders at random. Also good luck figuring out where to put the accents you piece of shit
Czech: so there is a word. there are 14 fucking forms of that word. also there are actually 42 forms. and here's a verb. there are actually only 3 tenses but who am i kidding, there is more and i don't even fucking know how many. the verb changes depending on one's gender. also you can change verb into a noun. that noun has its own gender. you can change any word into a noun and that noun will have its own fucking gender because who cares, only 10 milion people can speak with it. also you have to inflect all words. adjectives. names. pronouns. idefk. when you call someone, you fucking have to inflect that name. we also have a letter that almost no foreigner can pronounce. and good luck, even we don't friggin know how to write. also you can say a completely innocent sentence and it could be understood sexually beacuse our slang doesn't fucking make sense. good fucking luck fuckers.
god I wanna live in vienna
In German you call cobblestone roads Kopfsteinpflaster which would be directly translated to ‘headstone plaster’
In Czech we call cobblestones ‘kočičí hlavy’ (lit. cat heads).
