Did someone else catch how in the flashback when Ko Mija was talking about going to Seoul and marriage, the other women said there's already someone here who has a crush on her, and that someone was Cho Sangtae, as in Yong Pil's father and not her current husband?

I'd really like to know if that also plays into his hatred towards her and what their back story actually is.

Ink's words to Pran in EP 4 just gave me an enlightenment!

She literally made Pat and Pran couple bracelets! COUPLE BRACELETS!

Why do I just see this now?!?!

She gave one bracelet Pran at the rugby game:

and Pat got his already in high school:

now to even take a deeper dive Pat already knew these bracelets where for Pran and him!

"Ink gave you a bracelet?"

"Yes, just like the one you have."

"I know."

So Pat's words definitely imply that Ink at least talked with Pat about giving Pran also a bracelet. It also could be a friendship bracelet for the three of them, but then why is Ink not wearing one?

(And we already know Ink is more on the supporting side of Pat and Pran's little romance...)

and on top of that... when Paa was asking who Pat did think about all day while holding Ink's bracelet?

(But we clearly know at this point that he thought about Pran and not Ink!!)

I know in every series there is soo much room for interpretation that doesn't have to be true but I wanna live in my small fantasy with Pat and Pran already having matching bracelets without being a couple >.<

The Four Pillars of Pining (SSRL)

And why Mork fails at all of them. But mostly why so many others succeed (but also where some fail or fall down).

1. Secret.

2. Soft

3. Reason

4. Longing

Now, we go into detail!

Secret

This is, in my opinion, the single most important pillar of pining! It must be a SECRET. If the secret is revealed, it no longer pining. There are a few exceptions to this, but they are few and far between and must be very well done for them to work. But, otherwise? Pining is done in secret. Pining is done in dark corners, in hidden cabinets and in secret folders.

This pillar is best shown with Shen Wei. Seriously. He keeps so many secrets and those secrets are a huge part of his characters and a huge part of who he is and their relationship.

Mork breaks this pillar by confessing, FYI. Once he confesses and decides to push Pi, he is no longer pining. He is now pursuing.

This is also broken by ShiDe (although he tries to put the pining back in the jar) and by the twins in Brothers (but the love is not returned so they basically get to just openly love without hope of reciprocation which is hopeless pining which is kind of its own category.)

Soft

This is also important to good pining. Good pining has softness at the center because if it was hard or it was rough, it wouldn't be pining. Pining is love worn smooth, love you hold in the palm of your hand and roll around until there's nothing left but the smoothness. It's love turned into sea glass, smoothed out as the piner constantly thinks about it.

This pillar is best shown with Kurosawa. He holds that love in his hands until it is part of him, smooth and soft and resting in the palm of his hand.

Mork breaks this by never being soft. His love is all jagged and forced and pushed and shoved constantly.

I find this not be often broken in other shows. There's a bit of with Leo and Fiat but that's just Mame being... fucked up at them. But they do both have jagged love bits, definitely.

Reason

There has to be a reason they're pining. Why are they keeping their love a secret? Whether it's for friendship or for fear of being rejected or for fear of being alone or because he can't handle not being perfect... Pining without a reason holds no weight. There just has to be a reason and it has to make sense, it has to hold the pining together.

This pillar is best shown with MekBoss. Because you get to see how highly Mek regards their friendship and how important it is to him when he considers confessing. It's a perfectly illustrated reason and holds everything else together.

Mork breaks this because FUTS went FUCK REASONS we don't care about that.

Longing

Oh, this is what makes pining so good. It's the wanting, it's the wishing, it's those moments when they stare into the distance and dream. Longing makes pining worthwhile. Longing is what makes pining beautiful. This is the glue of the pining pillars, honestly.

This pillar is best shown Leo from LeoFiat. His longing is palpable in so many of their scenes. He wants and he craves and he needs so, so badly but won't act on it for, well, reasons and secrecy!

Mork has not quite broken this pillar yet. It's the only one he's still hanging onto and it's really only in the rare quiet moments that we see it.

Also!

Pursuing VS Pining

This is huge for me in explaining why I don't think Mork is actually pining.

Mork starts out a pining character. His crush on Pi is a secret, his love is soft, he has (unknown) reasons for not telling him and he obviously longs to be closer to Pi.

Then he tells Pi. Not a secret any longer!

He is constantly pushing his love on Pi and ignoring his rejection. Not very soft.

We are most of the way through the show and still don't have a reason. So, fuck that noise.

He is still longing but only a small percentage of the time.

So most of the time he's open about his affections, pushy about them, never explains them and constantly presents them as his open goal to everyone else.

That's not pining!

That's pursuing.

And that's all! Pillars of pining and why Mork isn't a pining character.

K-Pop Spotlight: ONF

This week, we’re highlighting ONF to celebrate the release of their repackaged album, City of ONF. We chatted with the six-member boy group about their latest album and ever-changing sound, their favorite lyrics, and the highlights of their nearly four-year-long careers thus far. Check out our full interview below.

Can you tell us about your new repackaged album, City of ONF, and what you hope people take away from it?

Hyojin: This repackaged album, City of ONF, is composed of 14 tracks, including eleven tracks from our first full-length album and three new tracks. The music is more powerful and energetic, which is unique to ONF. I hope everyone can learn more about us as a group that can pull off various genres of songs.

How would you describe your sound and how it’s changed since your debut?

E-Tion: A xylophone—it sounds cute, clear, and sexy. I think it resembles my voice which has gotten deeper since our debut.

MK: I can describe it as a lemon. I’ve become more capable of controlling my voice quite freely since our debut.

Is there a moment that you’d consider the highlight of your careers up to now?

Wyatt: It was when we performed in front of FUSE. It was the happiest moment to enjoy the time together. It’s a real shame that we can’t perform in front of them due to COVID-19, and I want to enjoy a great performance on stage together with our FUSE again.

U: When we debuted as ONF, our first win on a music show, and meeting the most precious FUSE for the first time. There were so many great moments, and every moment makes me happy, so I’m having the greatest moment right now. I hope the pandemic will come to an end as soon as possible so that we can meet face-to-face with our fans and have greater moments.

What’s your favorite lyric from your discography and why?

Hyojin: I like the part of the lyrics I wrote for the song “My Name Is.” It’s about introducing myself. I tried writing lyrics for the first time, and I want you to find out who I am and my charm when you listen to the song.

E-Tion: I like the lyrics from “THE DREAMER,” where it goes, “You don’t have to run as long as your heart is beating.” I think the lyrics can be very encouraging for young people. I myself was comforted by listening to this song and felt relaxed and motivated.

What’s one thing that scares you and one thing that excites you?

Wyatt: Bugs scare me the most. I wasn’t scared of bugs before, but they looked scary later on. I have fun playing with the other members. We do fun things together when we’re on standby and during our practice.

MK: I get scared of ghosts, and I love making music and get excited about it.

Outside of music, what are each of you most passionate about? Are there any hobbies you use to de-stress?

J-Us: I’d say that sleeping is the best way to de-stress during our activities. I’m most passionate about exercise outside of music. I exercise on the days off and during our spare time.

U: I like editing, so I looked it up on the internet to learn more about editing. I de-stress by going outside for a walk and sleeping.

If you could have dinner with one person, living or dead, who would it be and why?

Hyojin: It would be Park Hyo-shin who is my role model. I would love to meet him in person to talk about music and songs over dinner.

U: It would be my family! I couldn’t visit my family in Japan for some time due to Covid 19. I miss my family, so I want to have dinner with them and catch up on many things.

MK: It would be Michael Jackson. Among the pop artists, he was the first artist I got to know. Since I was young, I have always respected Michael Jackson. I would have loved the opportunity to meet him in person.
