I share my fics on the off chance someone else might like them too, I don’t feel the need to defend my choices especially if I don’t know you. I’m very easily set off by the canon ship and my notp. It’s not cool to be rude and leave mean comments. There are people who like those ships and make things for them. I just refuse to engage.
I’m a fangirl first and foremost so I thrive off leaving love letters and reblogging things (primarily on my main account). I only comment on things I enjoyed, I don’t like angst/mcd.
I guess I have to add the super obvious, there are no bad endings in my fics (unless I specify in the beginning and I will tag it cause I know how it feels since I hate reading that shit myself.) if you’ve read one you’re read them all imo. We just take slightly different routes to get to the same conclusion: my ships are meant to be in every single universe and that’s final! I preach commenting because I think it’s the absolute least we can do when an author has done so much by giving us these amazing fics to read, but I’m not someone who needs/wants praise, don’t comment if you’re gonna be annoying. Either read it and move on or just exit the fic, it’s really not that difficult.

Once again the kaishi and shinshi fic is spiraling out of control. I am just trying to get to one scene, the only reason why I’m writing a part two and they are just not cooperating. Like how the heck did this other thing happen instead!
also we have GOT to collectively come to terms with the fact that me or any other stranger online disliking or even making fun of something you like is not saying “no fun allowed” “no one can ever enjoy this” you have simply got to grow a spine and be able to like the shit you like. you don’t even have to defend it! like 90% of the media i really enjoy is divisive and half my friends actively hate it. i really don’t give a fuck though because i like it. you can write whatever you want! you’re allowed! even if it’s MY least favorite genre or style of writing and i have active distaste for it!
I will never give up reading fics, I have such high admiration of authors who write fics. I could never. Not in like a woes me kinda way, but I just love the way other people write. There are certain authors that just leave me in awe and it’s why I preach leaving love letters cause how can I not when you’ve made me feel so many emotions. I want to scream and cry and laugh and most of all I get to see my ship fall in love and that in turn make me wants to scream cause canon could never but you’ve brought that possibility here and you wrote it so much better than I could’ve imagined myself. I say this as an extremely picky fic reader because I have very strong opinions myself about my ships. So it really is a treat to have an author who shares your feelings and makes a story come to life that just makes me want to ramble and fic rec to everyone! So thank you for writing, and thank you for sharing it. Fandom would be nothing without your fics <3

People 10 and 20 years older than me are writing your favorite fanfics, and drawing your favorite characters. You'd have no fandom without the people you think are 'too old' to have hobbies.
This mentality is so insanely frustrating. Why do teenagers think that people have to give up their hobbies, give up fun, when they reach a certain age? Like??
When I was a teenager writing fic, I remember finding out that one of my favorite authors was in her 50s and that just was SUCH a revelation for me!! What do you mean, 50 year olds can write fanfic?!? Does that mean I can write fics when I'm her age?? That's AWESOME! I seriously looked up to her so much. And now I'm 35 with a husband and kid, and I'm still writing fanfic and posting fandom content - and I have no plans of stopping!
If you try to drive 30+ people out of fandom, you're going to lose the backbone of said fandom!
The ageism in fandom is fucking insane. It’s strange that people seem to have the idea that fandom was created by and for teenagers… It was not. It was created by adults. How would we have ao3 if only teenagers were in fandom?
I don’t want to sound like I am hating on younger people in fandom, but god, y’all need to stop it with the ageism. You don’t have to give up what you love once you’re an adult. Honestly, the belief that you have to is pretty bad. It sounds like it would make people afraid of aging. Granted, modern society is so very afraid of aging.
Don’t give up what you love just because you’re an adult. You don’t have to. And don’t try to force others to do it either.
Look, just because you’re not aware of the adults in your life having hobbies doesn’t mean that they don’t. Your mom’s secretly been writing smut since before you were born. She hangs out on Discord with her friends and talks about Fourth Wing and Heated Rivalry. She actually has an AO3 account and a Tumblr you’re not even aware of.
Adults are complicated humans.
