“Hello, fellow adults”

You know being an “ally” (for HOH/Deaf people) isn’t always just talking loudly or learning the ASL alphabet. Its all about the little things you do in every day acts.
For example, when I got my hair done for an event once 5 years ago, my hair dresser noticed my hearing aid and talked to me about her brothers hearing problem and asked if I wanted my hair styled to hide, or show my aid. She wanted what I found to be the most comfortable, because she didn’t want the elaborate hair style to cause feedback/discomfort.
Most hair dressers ignore my aid, or awkwardly ask if I could take it out (which I usually end up doing anyway)
Whenever my friends and I watch TV together without question, they put on closed captions.
When walking and talking some of my friends will always walk, or move to stand on the side of my good ear when talking. (i’m HOH in one ear and perfectly fine in the other)
Another time I was getting my hair cut my hair dresser sometimes would stop cutting, or blow drying my hair just to continue the conversation, so that way I could hear him.
It’s the small details like these that count to support a person with differences. Its not these big boisterous acts of helping, its just being a friend doing friendly things. Instead of glorifying it, just normalize it.
trying to convince my roommate not to eat tinfoil
stop it bastard
how we act alone when we don’t feel like we have witnesses.. that is the genuine self.. me walking around my room punching the air talking to myself in a bad southern accent, that’s ME baby. you’re never going to know me like i know me. haha.
Honestly the best piece of advice I can give to younger girls trying to figure life out is to completely ignore men. I’m not being quirky or cute when I say that, I mean it seriously. Ignore men’s judgments of you, ignore their insincere compliments, ignore their half-assed romance. Focus on developing yourself. Practice your art, play sports, do theater, volunteer, spend time with your friends, but do not put substantial effort into pleasing men. They’ll be there for you to pursue when the time comes and if you want to. But nothing will waste your youth more than fighting for male acceptance.
this is the exact atmosphere emitted by every dollar tree store in every location across the country

it’s so difficult not being able to use milennial humor in a corporate setting. like i made a mistake today and i wanted to tell my supervisor it’s because i suffer from Dumb Bitch Disease, but do you think that would fly?? fuck no. i gotta say shit like, “sorry for the misunderstanding!” i can’t wait till the workforce is made up entirely of millennials and i can say “sorry i drank idiot juice for breakfast this morning” and my coworkers will be like “oh worm.”
i taught my boss the meaning and usage of “yeet” after i accidentally let it slip in the office and a day later he walks up to my desk and says “i just yeeted you an email” with a completely straight face and i nearly bowled over
bitches be healing and learning ancient languages
me flirting: which layer of hell do you think you’re going to?
Hedonism as a concept is so dope and yall gotta unbrainwash your religious upbringing nostalgia and realize that life IS about kicking back and eating grapes around a fire in nothing but a swim suit and drinking margaritas. A little hedonism never hurt nobody
This post makes me want to rob you
