Hello, I have a Total Drama blog for diverse headcanons and I got asked if headcanons about closeted trans characters would be accepted. For example, this would be headcanoning a man as trans woman. The problem is I’m a non-dysphoric nonbinary person (designated female at birth) and don’t think my experiences could really translate into the issue. Also, I run the blog alone without other people to help.

I’m not really sure how to help you honestly. This page is run by myself only and I don’t identify as trans so I can’t personally speak on other trans peoples behalf or experiences.

I think the only thing you can really do is talk to any trans people you may know and read up on the topic as much as you can. Write about what you know but maybe stay away from topics that you don’t have as much experience on until you gain that experience.

Advice for an eventual high school graduate that wants to move out of the U.S. to move somewhere more LGBT-friendly and safe? My family isn't neither supportive or not-supportive, and I don't know really how I feel about just up and leaving them. Am I being hasty? I just want to live in a place where I don't have to fear for my well-being and safety all the time.

Thank you for your question.

So I understand that your well-being in terms of an area that is LGBT+ friendly is your main concern. But I suggest you have other things in order as well. If you feel that it’s something you really need to do then I don’t think it’s hasty per say but, do not up and go without having a backup plan.

• You need to make sure you have a job lined up in whatever location you wish to migrate to.

• Have at least 3-6months worth of savings that will cover rent and food etc in case things fall through.

• Choose a location that has all the amenities you will need within walking distance, and that has a good bus or subway service.

• If college or university is something you’re interested in you need to make sure that you have all information you need 6-12 months in advance of the next academic year including accommodation for on or off campus.

I very much understand the need and want to spread your wings and be where you need to be, but being rash about such a big decision like this would be extremely dangerous, and it is why many people end up being homeless or at a loss. So please have a talk with yourself and family members you trust.

Take your estrogen/progesterone! Refill your prescription if you ran out/will run out soon!

Stop tucking if you're experiencing pain, numbness, etc., or have been tucking too long!

Hydrate! Even if you aren't thirsty, if it's been more than a few hours since you drank something, please do!

Be kind to yourself! No matter where you are on your trans journey, know that you are valid and loved. ♡

Also if you're wearing any sort of figure shaping device like a waist trainer, spanx, a corset, etc make sure its comfy and not too tight and that you haven't been wearing it too long.

Hi,

I think you could introduce them to the definition of being non binary first and then tell them that that’s how you identify. You could gauge their reaction on the defintion of being non binary and see if it’s a comfortable enough environment for you to come out in. You could always tell one parent first, the one that you feel closest too and it may feel easier for you to do so.

There’s no set way to come out, you just have to do what makes you feel comfortable and safe.

friendly reminder that picking a new name isnt necessary for trans/nonbinary folk! it’s okay if you’re perfectly comfortable with your birth name and continue going by it! it doesn’t make you any less trans/nonbinary for using ur birth name
