Idk what the consensus is for this. But I think chapter 5 had easily the weakest soundtrack out of all of them. There truly was not a single song that really stood out to me as "wow! I gotta listen to that later!" Which every other chapter did several times. And listen, im not hard to impress. I loved "dump" and "glacier"... but flower man was boring to my ears!
I guess the only stand out was mew mews miku music. And it was indeed the best track for ch5. But honestly... I liked dump more.
Remember when people here got angry at me for saying he's weird about LGBT people
it is--if not really surprising--so frustrating how extremely elementary, like literally "race in media 101" type criticisms of the racism in video games is received by white liberals with pronouns the exact same way that anita sarkeesian was received by neogaf chuds

There was always going to be an inherent tension in the design of the flower shop dark world (and it's been obvious that it would be one of the chapters from very early). Given Asgore's role in Undertale, Toby Fox had to choose between making Asgore the primary antagonist a la Undertale or subverting that expectation. Chapter 5 is deliberately crafted around the Undertale player's memory and expectations of Asgore in a way that previous chapters haven't been. Asgore is the first Undertale boss to play a major role in a dark world segment.
Fox chose (as many predicted) to subvert expectations: the antagonist is the new character Flowery (himself a nudging reference to Undertale's Flowey), there is no Asgore fight, Bergentrucking doesn't play. The subversion is obvious from the get-go, and while I wondered a few times throughout the chapter if we would return to the "obvious" plot, we didn't.
Unfortunately, the "subversive" Flowery plot is a clear retreat to ground that Fox is comfortable with. The parallels between Flowery and Spamton & Tenna are obvious. When in doubt, Fox will accost our characters with a charismatic, comedic, and sympathetic male villain with an unusual speech pattern. Part of Chapter 4's strength is that it only does this move briefly, giving it a darker mood than the preceding chapters. Chapter 5 is a return to this well-tread ground. And of course, if I hated this ground, I wouldn't be playing Deltarune! But when Chapter 5 retreads it, two weaknesses become apparent.
First, Flowery is simply less charismatic than Tenna. He's a less interesting character with a less interesting design and a less clear motivation. Given that both are introduced in cutscenes that deviate from the UTDR pixel art style, the comparison is even more obvious.
Second, unlike with previous chapters without an "obvious" plot, while playing I was comparing the actual plot unfolding in front of me to the generic "Asgore as the evil shogun" plot in my head. Now, the real plot of Chapter 5 is probably better than that one, but the margin isn't wide enough! Nothing in the chapter is quite as cool as Asgore smashing the Mercy button in Undertale- and that was everyone's bar going in, wasn't it?
On the other hand, the feather gameplay was a fun gimmick, the signposting for the secret boss was excellent, and the Light World character writing + Ralsei's development are top-notch as always. Susie remains one of the most well-written characters in gaming. I had fun overall and I'm looking forward to Chapter 6. In perspective, I imagine Chapter 5 will be a bit of a midgame slog rather than an an actual lasting drop in quality.
Also, Field of Hopes and Dreams is such a good song that the remix that plays early in the chapter is the musical high point imo- neither boss theme knocked it out of the park. The soundtrack felt relatively short compared to Chapters 2 & 4, but that could just be me.

it's weird ralsei isn't yellow considering that susie is magenta and kris is cyan
????
Wait it might be a reference to how shes the only darkner in the group so she feels like shes not on the "same level" as them. Also, as someone else pointed out, Noelle is associated with yellow. Because she's a lightner.
Also.... notice how the lightner colors converge to make black? And how the darkners converge to make white? Its a reference to dark and light worlds. Hrmmmm... but then who is blue and red? Well.... sans and papyrus. Thats right, sans and papyrus are secretly darkners and they will be playable and they are the knight bunker dess device gaster 67 image friend inside me.
they shouldve given seven of nine a cannon arm like mega man and various other fictional heros REASON WHY:
1 well its.bad ass staple of sci fi to have the cannon arm charavter
2 she could use her weapon to cause harm to Or kill tom paris or bad guys or otber people
3 ahe couls propel physical ammunition OR energy beams according to the writer's preference as well as which mechanical upgrades her charavter has receieved
4 the cannon would probably look bad ass
5 her charavter design would be greatly improved by a cannon arm just imagine the silhouette
6 star trek doesnt have enough diversity in melee weapons lets be honest
7 in this scenario she is also butch in addition to the canon arm

Sister of the current irish president speaking on the experience of being captured and harmed by the iof and condemning the Irish government for not sanctioning israel
The current Irish government is the Sinn Fein ("ourselves alone") party, a (supposedly) socialist, pro-Irish-unification party. Supposedly anti-colonial in every respect, not just against the British occupation of the north of Ireland. They've already caved to the right in Ireland by not being more liberal on immigration. The president Catherine Connolly has said she is proud of her sister Margaret (above). Note that the Irish president is more of a figurehead, separate from the Taoiseach who heads the government, Mary Lou McDonald. But either way Ireland is not sanctioning Israel. Because like so many countries, Ireland has decided not to piss off the USA.
Sinn Fein is clinging to its progressive anti-colonial label while sending its MPs to court the racist Irish American diaspora instead. They are desperate to retain American support because 50 years ago Irish-Americans supported Irish unification. As a population the diaspora still do, but they'll always put ICE and cop unions above Ireland.
Sinn Fein have showed up to many US communities and pretended not to be anti-racist, socialist, or anything besides pro-unification. The Irish diaspora were already right-wing in the 70s and 80s then and it's even worse now. Sinn Fein is convinced the Americans will help them finally unite Ireland (they won't) and so they are burning their progressive good will in real time.
This is wrong. The Irish government is currently a coalition between the right-wing parties Fianna Fail and Fine Gael. The Taoiseach is Micheal Martin of FF, not Mary Lou McDonald, who is the leader of the opposition. Sinn Fein has never been in government in the RoI. Whatever criticisms of Sinn Fein you may have, they are not responsible for Irish government policy (and while I am not in the habit of lauding liberals for taking the minimal stand, it should be noted that right-wing Irish governments have been some of the most pro-Palestinian European governments).
