The Second Album Is Coming!
Well, ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to officially announce the forthcoming second album by myself, Liam Sturgess.
As you guys know, I released my first album (or EP, for those who are in the know) back in July 2013, coproduced with Alex Balanko's This Way Up EP. We did the whole thing in my bedroom - I'll go into more detail on that in a future post.
This next album goes hand in hand with the first one. A lot of the themes from the first album are continued, and some songs that were originally intended to be on Hit The Stage will appear here in some way or another.
I am not yet ready to publicly reveal the title or art, but I can tell you a few things:
1) It will be home recorded again. We had originally intended to use a slightly more high-end studio with more equipment and instruments, but we've decided to keep it closer to home (literally).
2) It will be produced primarily by myself, with assistance by Alex Balanko. I have learned a lot about music production since my work on Hit The Stage, practicing tips and tricks with recording, mixing and mastering. Alex (who has more training than me) will be lending a helping hand and ear, as well as providing some instrumentation.
3) The artwork is being done by my good friend Johny Tobler, and follows a specific style and theme.
4) It's looking like we're going with something other than jewel cases as far as packaging goes.
5) We're looking at a late Summer release, though as always, that is subject to change.
6) It's going to be between 10-14 tracks.
Thanks so much for reading, guys. If you've got any questions or just want to chat, hit me up anytime on Twitter, Facebook or Email!
Love,
Liam
My new sounds:
Blogging and MUSIC?
My name is Liam.
I am a musician.
...and apparently, a blogger.
I have been writing and performing music for several years now, yadda yadda yadda, same old story right?
Well, sort of. I am like many of my independent singer/songwriter comrades also reaching for the stars, but don't be fooled into thinking we're all one and the same.
I like to consider myself not just a musician, but an entertainer. A feel-good fella, all around. When people meet me, I don't want them to think, "Oh, he's gonna get a Top 20 hit in the next year." I want them to walk away thinking, "I want to spend more time with him." This goes for everything I do, be it my University life, my Tae-Kwon-Do Instructing career, my antics on YouTube, and yes, my music too.
Now that you know a bit about me, let's get relevant. I've made a solid group of great friends over the past few years that have supported and encouraged me to the point that I put out my first EP last Summer, called "Hit the Stage". I'll go into more detail about the EP itself in a later post, but for now, just know that it had 7 tracks, was released in a jewel case.
I didn't sell very much of the EP, online or in CD form, but the people who did take the time to listen to it gave me very positive feedback (and constructive criticism!) and I appreciate that infinitely. The production of the EP taught me some great things in terms of how to write good songs, how to make them sound good through a microphone and editing software, and finally, the beginning steps on how to make people care about my music.
So what's next?
I recently started a record label called Four Destinations Records, and I've been slowly working on developing and legitimizing the company. Including me, there are six artists in various stages of involvement with 4D (if I hear one more One Direction joke... *shakes fist*) and I am incredibly excited for everything we have in the works.
Myself, I have been working on writing and planning my first full-length album since Day 1 of Hit the Stage being on the market. The plan right now is for a 12-14 track lineup, with songs both old and new (diehard followers may remember Mirror from my high school talent show performance) and appearances by several of my good friends such as Alex Balanko and Jade Mooking.
Luckily, Alex was offered the opportunity to use a colleague's home studio for the production of his own full-length album, and being the amazing friend (and arguably, fiancé - just kidding) that he is, he invited me along for the ride. It's much nicer than the studio we had previously occupied (my bedroom) and much more well-equipped than the professional studio I have been frequenting for the past several months. The walls are literally lined with guitars and cables, there are three drumsets, equipped with Pro Tools, a full soundboard, and best of all: eggshakers. YEAH.
So anyway, Alex and I move into the studio (currently named, The Studio©) in May of this year. We'll be going in twice a week or so, and with two full albums to record, it should put release sometime in mid-summer. No promises though.
See, this is why you should care! We here at Liam Sturgess Enterprises © like to leave you hanging.
My goal is to be very active on social media to both entertain and inform you. Beyond that, though, I want to be your friend. Music is a great industry and I would love to see who's out there and what you're doing.

I think that's it for now. I will admit, it is refreshing to be able to talk openly and sort of - ah, colloquially? - like this, after having written numerous overly professional blurbs on the 4D site.
Speaking of which, here's that!

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you'll hang around for a bit, it's all very exciting!
Love, Liam
PS: Yes, this is how I talk in person. In case you were wondering.
