-hugging pillows (especially cute pillows like stuffies or plushies) or having any warm, heavy weight on your lap for awhile triggers the same cues as live babies and dogs. heavy blankets are good for stress.
-watching favorite shows or reading favorite books shouldn't entirely substitute for seeing friends or family, but it can be a mood boost or a necessary bit of escapism. your brain actually does treat fictional characters as real loved ones, emotionally, which is the main source of most fandom drama.
-also, this might sound silly, but if you feel like shit, check if your feet are cold. everything feels worse with cold feet. put some damn socks on.
-do not fuck around with essential oils if you have pets. honestly don't fuck around with them in general. whatever mild benefits they might confer should be weighed against the fact that a lot of them are fucking poisonous and none of them are well regulated.
-praise yourself out loud when you do well, rather than verbalizing your mistakes. you can give yourself compliments and actually should.
-keeping a calendar and writing on it a lot helps your sense of time when you're depressed. tallying up the day's accomplishments, even if it's minor shit like showering or eating multiple meals per day, really does help give you a sense of progress.
this is just a small selection of spanish words with arabic origins! i don't speak arabic, so i'm not sure about the romanized forms for the etymology, but they do come from la RAE, so keep that in mind.

How to Use
Grade Level
☆ Kanji throughout this dictionary are organized by grade level, and each grade level is its own color.
☆ Custom color-coding can be used in the little circles. Using colored pencils, for example, you can color in the circles using your own color-coding system to distinguish between kanji you already learned, or new ones you want to remember.
Kanji Radicals
☆ The pink font is the kanji radical, which is used to classify kanji by type. A full list of radicals can be viewed on page 30 of the dictionary.
☆ In the tan box at the top of the page, you can see the composing radicals and their names. (Yes, radicals have names! But you don't necessarily need to remember them to understand kanji.)
Kanji Heading
☆ This large box shows you the stroke order as well as arrows for what direction each stroke is written in. Also shown are the different types of strokes, which tell you what the end of the stroke is supposed to look like. (とめ means the stroke abruptly stops, while はらう means the stroke ends in a sweeping motion and はね refers to an upward turn at the bottom of the stroke.)
How to Read the Kanji
☆ The on'yomi reading (i.e. pronunciation derived from classical Chinese) is shown in katakana, while the kun'yomi reading (i.e. pronunciation created in Japan) is shown in blue hiragana.
☆ Readings in brackets 《 》 are ones that aren't learned in elementary school, but later on in schooling.
Total Number of Strokes
☆ This box tells you how many strokes you need to write in a given kanji.
Stroke Order
☆ This column shows you how to write the kanji in the correct stroke order. Each subsequent stroke is pink to distinguish it from the previous one!
Special Readings
☆ Any particularly odd readings for the kanji are shown here. A list of words with special readings is on page 300.
Meaning & Vocabulary Words
☆ The meaning of the kanji is given first, in pink.
☆ The following numbered sections contain compound words (じゅうくご) that are further organized by meaning. For compound words that have more than one reading, the readings are shown in parentheses. Definitions are also given in parentheses for complex words.
