Sad update everyone, Tama recently passed away… An estimated 3,000 people, including railway officials, attended Tama the cat’s funeral on Sunday, days after she died of heart failure aged 16. [x]

For those who haven’t read articles about it, the local shrine elevated her to a god. She’s now the Eternal Stationmaster and patron god of the station.

Nitama, already now a mature cat (born 2010), has a protege named Yontama (fourth Tama, b. 2016).  There is no information available for either the physical befellment or tragic self-disgrace which has removed Santama from contention.

okay but actually what happened to santama (or sun-tama-tama, which is her name because it’s a pun on santama) was that she was basically sent to train for the position in okayama and they liked her so much they refused to send her back

“Sun-tama-tama” (a pun off of “Santama”, lit. “third Tama”) was a calico cat sent for training in Okayama. Sun-tama-tama was considered as a candidate for Tama’s successor, but the Okayama Public Relations representative who had been caring for Sun-tama-tama refused to give the cat up writing, “I will not let go of this child, she will stay in Okayama.” [25]

As of September 2018, Sun-tama-tama is working as the stationmaster in Naka-ku, Okayama and appears occasionally on Tama’s Twitter account.

This a different type of Montana Outdoors post today. Thousands of people across our state from Billings to Havre have assembled to speak out against police overreach and brutality, to which no one is immune.  The protests exhibit the diversity of our state – Native Americans, people of color, men and women of all types celebrating their 1st and 2nd amendment rights.

In the above photo, 51 year old Jay Snowden of Whitefish Montana screams obscenities at Samantha Francine, also of Whitefish.  Samantha wrote these words about the confrontation later in a facebook post: 

“As a child, I grew up with a single white father who was originally from Chicago. He taught us from a young age that things were going to be different for us just because of the color of our skin. One of the things he use to remind us constantly was that “no matter the threat, always look them in the eye so they have to acknowledge you’re human”. My father past 16 years ago this month. In this moment, those are the words that went through my head. When I lifted up my glasses, he saw me. I saw him. He was acting out fear, I know that. I hold no malice in my heart for this man. I hope this moment will soften him. I hope he will be changed.”

Protest tips:

Cover your face and any identifiable markings. 

Do not post pictures that reveal peoples faces. In the past some protesters from various situations have had their identities revealed and turned up mysteriously dead.

Water is better for washing away teargas than milk. Milk may feel better but water breaks down the chemical. I’ve heard baking soda helps too.

Hong Kong protesters used the method of taking traffic cones and placing them on top of teargas canisters and pouring water through the top hole to neutralize the gas.

Wear leather or some sort of non-porus gloves so you can throw back canisters if needed.

Wear glasses, not contacts. Even swimming goggles would be ideal.

Keep an eye out for undercover cops and dipshit white supremacists who may try to instigate the crowd to violence. Plainclothes cops will usually all wear the same color so they can identify each other.

If you are detained, SHUT UP. Memorize this: “I want an attorney”. TELL them you want an attorney, don’t just ask.

Go to lawyers.findlaw.com to locate civil rights attorneys near you and keep their information handy.

Stay alert. Stay safe. Move away from danger quickly.

Breonna Taylor, Kenneth Walker and now George Floyd are the latest names in senseless violence by law enforcement, the actions of the officers involved display a level of unprofessional conduct that are reprehensible and deserve the outcry they are getting and then some. This post is not to defend cops or say they are all bad but this is a sign we need a change in how cops act but also on how judges give warrants. To those protesting I have one message for you: Arm yourselves it is harder to be violent to a group that not only outnumbers you but also out guns you. This is why we have a second amendment this is why our founding fathers wanted us to be armed. To my fellow second amendment supporters do not see this as a race issue this is the tyranny that you all claim you need to be armed for now is the time to nut up or shut up. To the BLM supporters remember that your fight is with the government and law enforcement not with your neighborhood businesses. I fully stand with you and it is time for a change
