Despite what you thought, there were plenty of parallels between you and Katsuki. You were wrong to think that the two of you didn’t have much in common, he thought bitterly. Just look at him right now… Staring at the ceiling of his bedroom, wide awake in the early hours of the morning, overcome by thoughts of you, your relationship, where he went wrong. There were no tears, no sadness, no anger. All he could possibly feel was the overwhelming sense that he didn’t know what to do without you. He hadn’t slept a full night in nearly a week, overcome with these thoughts of helplessness, desperation, and confusion. He refused to let anyone know what he was going through, so he kept it to himself, coming home every night to stare at the ceiling wondering why.
Just like you did before you left him.
He watched you lie awake night after night. Something was off but you denied it every time he asked. He didn’t want to push. He figured you’d come around when you were ready. Until he came home one night to find your things gone, a note left on the dresser stating that you didn’t think this was working out. You had left him, and didn’t even tell him why.
He was consumed by his grief. Thoughts drifting to your smile, the feeling of you under his hands, feeling your breath against his skin as you slept beside him, every feeling you stirred in him. You had told him once that dating a pro hero was overwhelming. You’d admitted in a fit of anger once that his attitude could be rough to deal with sometimes. You were taken back by his softness when you started dating him, calling him rough around the edges. You never told him you were unhappy. If you had, he would have given anything just to keep you close. He’s never needed anything the way he needed you. And he took you for granted. Assumed that in spite of everything, you’d always stay. He never realized he had it all until the day he no longer had you.
This was killing him. He needed you back. He wasn’t sure how, but he was determined to bring you back to him. He would follow the cracks in the pavement if it meant leading himself back to you.

Twelve days.
It had been twelve days since you had last spoken to Shouto. Twelve days since you asked him to walk you back to the dorms, twelve days since you responded to his texts, twelve days since he got to hear your laughter or see your smile.
Twelve days, seven hours, and thirty-two minutes, not that he was counting.
Day one, he had assumed you were busy; by day three, he was beginning to get worried. After a week, he knocked on your door and stood there for ten full minutes, hoping you would answer. You never did. By the morning of day twelve, you were the only thing he could think about. You had gone from talking daily to radio silence with no warning. You wouldn’t even tell him what he did wrong.
“Todoroki, did you bring that book I lent you a few weeks ago?”
The voice of his friend calling his name momentarily snapped him out of his spiraling thoughts about you.
“No, I’m sorry, Iida. I forgot it. I’ll grab it from my dorm and bring it to you this evening if that’s alright.”
Shouto wasn’t sure how long he’d been tuned out of the conversation happening around him. When he finally lifted his head to look around, he noticed all of his friends staring back at them with looks of concern.
“Are you feeling alright?” Midoriya asked.
“Yes, why?” He responded, an obvious lie. He’s never been the best at articulating his emotions, but he’s not great at hiding them either.
“You’ve seemed a bit, I don’t know, off these past couple weeks.” Midoriya answered. Shouto released a small sigh, returning his gaze to his lap, almost in embarrassment.
“(Y/N) hasn’t been speaking to me and she won’t tell me why.”
Had he really been this out of it for almost two full weeks? Sure, he’d forgotten little things here and there more often than usual. Maybe he’d been less engaged in what’s been going on around him as well. But could he have been so obviously upset this entire time? There are any number of reasons you’ve stopped speaking to him, some of which might not have to do with him at all. Could he be so self-absorbed to have only thought of what you’re going through in relation to himself-
“Oh, I know why!” Iida answered simply.
“You do?” Shouto’s gaze lifted from his lap eagerly.
“Some time last week, I had noticed she seemed off for a few days as well. I stopped by her dorm to check in when I noticed she didn’t come down for dinner. I wasn’t expecting her to be so straightforward, if I’m honest. She thinks that she-” Iida’s eyes widened in realization. “oh, perhaps it’s not my place to divulge that information. I’m sorry.” The pain in Shouto’s eyes forced Iida to reconsider. He sighed, weighing his options before he spoke again. “But maybe it’s for the best that you understand as well. She told me that when she last saw you, she said something that she believed had given away her romantic feelings for you. I guess you didn’t react to what she said, and now she’s afraid her confession tarnished the friendship the two of you share, and she’s been too embarrassed to speak to you ever since.”
Shouto couldn’t even recall what had been said to cause this, but it didn’t matter. You’d been hiding yourself from him for twelve full days over something he didn’t even understand, when all he’d wanted the entire time was to have you back. His thoughts were consumed by you day and night for nearly two full weeks. He could barely sleep lately because he was so caught up in worrying about you. He didn’t care what it took; he just needed you to know that he cared about you and wanted you back in his life again.
And then it hit him.
“I’ll be right back.” Shouto told his friends, already making a stride for the stairs. The elevator would take too long. He sprinted up four flights of stairs, breathing deeply and allowing his thoughts to be consumed by you more with each step. He opened the door to access the 5th floor hallway and took long steps until he reached the door of your dorm room. Shouto froze for a moment in panic, but knew in that moment he needed to act.
He knocked softly on your door.
“(Y/N)?”
When he got no response, he knocked louder.
“(Y/N), I know you’re there. I-” He sighed deeply, mulling over his words for a long moment. “I’m sorry I didn’t understand that you were telling me how you felt about me. And I’m sorry it took me so long to realize that I feel the same way. I don’t know what to say but I want to be a part of your life again, in whatever way you’ll have me…” He took a long pause to see if you’d respond. You didn’t. So he continued. “I know I made you worried. I know you need time to think about it. Come to my dorm and knock on my door when you’re ready. I’ll wait for you. I won’t stop waiting until you knock on my door.” He waited for a few more minutes outside your door, hoping to hear something- anything -from the other side. He heard you shifting around, but you offered him no response. As he promised, he returned to his own dorm to wait. He closed the door and promptly laid down on the floor to allow all of his thoughts to be consumed by you once again. How could he have been so blind all this time to what he was feeling? This time around, his misunderstanding of his own emotions didn’t only hurt him. No, he did what he could. Fuyumi always told him regret was a useless emotion if he’d done all you could to fix it. He did what he could. He should trust in his sister more. She’d like you, he thinks. He’d love to introduce you to her if you gave him the chance. All he could hope was that you gave him the chance.
Three soft knocks could be heard against his door. He was so caught up in his thoughts of you that he forgot to get up and answer the door.
“Shouto? It’s me. Are you there?”
Three more knocks followed a moment later, and he leaped up to answer this time, sliding open the door so quickly it startles you. He’d never been happier in his life than he was seeing you in that moment, but his heart broke seeing the sadness in your eyes. You wrapped your arms around him and buried your face in the crook of his neck. “I’m so sorry I didn’t just talk to you. I don’t know what came over me, and the longer I waited to say something the more embarrassed I got. I just hope we can move past this.” He said nothing in response, choosing instead to soothingly rub your back. He thinks this is comforting. He hopes that he’s right. Eventually, you pulled away from his embrace and stared at him, hoping he’d say something. He looked away for just a second as he searched for the right words. He finally settled on the only thing he could think about in that moment.
“Can I kiss you?”
“If you want to, yeah.” You answered. He leaned in closer until he could feel your breath on his skin. Cool and minty, like the gum you’d always chew. He pulled back after breathing it in.
“I don’t- I’ve never-” He tried to speak, but his stuttering was cut short when he felt one of your hands rest against his jaw.
“It’s okay. I’ll show you. You just need to relax.”
He followed your lead until his lips met with yours.
In that moment, he was certain he would never stop thinking about you ever again.
Yes! The manga ending didn’t feel like it gave the ending (dare I sound entitled) we deserved. It was a bit anticlimactic and I demand a refund for all those years I’ve gone through
Totally agree. Not to be dramatic but it almost feels like I wasted my time watching and reading. All of these years building up the stakes way higher than they probably ever needed to be for such an empty, anticlimactic ending.

Honestly, I'd love to get back to writing again. I still think about this show daily and Tenya is still the love of my life, but the reason I haven't been super active on this blog is honestly because it's been a long time since I've watched My Hero Academia. I'm like 4 seasons behind lol. I have so many nearly complete drafts that I'm nervous to post now because I'm worried they won't be accurate to the current events of BNHA.

Oh my God you're so right. I literally had to hop on this blog for the first time since February to tell you how right you were.
He would be SUCH a good son. He would always be his mom's dance partner and that would be something so special to them.
But like imagine him teaching YOU how to dance while you're at some kind of formal event together?? He's so patient and kind while he walks you through the steps. And there's something so soft and tender about it that makes your heart melt.

Family Headcanons for Kirishima + Bakugou

Kirishima Eijirou
Kirishima definitely has at least one older sister. Probably a very close relationship with his mom as well. The women in his life played such a huge role in making him the person that he is today.
Having said that, I can only see Kirishima as a girl dad.
He radiates huge "girl dad" energy. And he's so proud about it too. Having girls is his favorite thing ever.
I can see you and him with three girls, each of them are 2 or 3 years apart, and they all have red eyes and black hair.
Not a single one of your daughters looks like you, I'm sorry. He insists that they all have your smile, though.
He's super involved from the minute you tell him you're pregnant. Taking you to every doctor's appointment, helping you with whatever you need, designing the nursery.
Once he found out he was having a girl, he made you sit down with him every night while he learned how to do your hair. It was so important to him for him to know how to comb and style hair so he could help get them ready for school in the future.
One aspect of fatherhood he's surprisingly hands-off about is picking a name. He wants you to do it and he's completely happy with whatever you pick.
A name is just not that important to him. Whatever you want your girl's names to be will be special to him. Not because he carefully chose a name with a special meaning, but because it's his daughter's name and she is special to him.
Although his disinterest in helping you pick a name definitely started a fight between the two of you when you were pregnant with your first, because it felt like he didn't care enough to help you pick.
He's super involved after the kids are born too.
Strongly encourages them to get into something physical. Ballet, soccer, gymnastics, baseball, volleyball. He doesn't care. He'll let them do anything that they want so long as it gets them moving.
And he goes to every performance and every game. He's in the front row of every school play with a bouquet of roses in his hands. He's your girls' biggest cheerleader.
Your girls would tell him everything too. He's surprisingly good at keeping up with stories of teenage girl drama and gives them his full attention any time there's an update.
I can see Kirishima with a TV Sitcom ass family that other kids in the neighborhood would come to for advice or a safe space to hang out.
Kirishima cries at everything. Cried when he learned you were pregnant. Cried when each one of your daughters was born. He cries at birthdays, at graduations, at holidays, at performances, at major milestones.
Definitely calls his daughters "manly" as a compliment.
It's really important to him that his kids get along with each other and always have each other's backs. Your kids aren't allowed to fight in your house. If they do start fighting he takes them aside and makes them work it out.
Bakugou Katsuki
When he was a teenager he had a complicated relationship with his parents, specifically with his mom. But as he gets older he starts to understand them more and they get along better.
His parents never really told him they were proud of him or praised him because Mitsuki was worried it would go to his head.
He also felt like his parents were embarrassed by him because of the way he acted. (They were)
When you met him, he insisted that he never wanted kids.
It took him a long time but he eventually changed his mind. He had a lot of growing and changing to do before thinking about starting a family.
A huge part of his hesitation came from the difficult task of contending with his past. He was cruel and abusive as a kid and became so worried about his kid turning out like him at that age. And if they did, he wouldn't know what to do to stop it, just like his parents didn't with him.
A lot of his parenting is modeled after his parents. Not only what they did right, but what he thinks they did wrong as well. He wants to learn from his parents' mistakes and do better than they did.
Bakugou may not be the best dad but he'll always stand by his kid and support them them regardless of the circumstance.
He's never been very articulate or very in-touch with his emotions. He struggles to tell his loved ones that he loves them, your kid included. Because of this, he makes sure to show them that he loves them.
When you tell him you're pregnant, he doesn't really react. He doesn't even stop watching the news to look you in the eye. You're worried that he doesn't care but internally he's so happy. He doesn't say so. Doesn't even smile. His way of reassuring you that he wants this is by asking you what you want the nursery to look like, and getting to work moving all the furniture out of the guest room to turn it into the baby's room as soon as he wakes up the next day.
He doesn't care about the sex of the baby. He just wants it to be happy and healthy.
Very involved in the process of picking a name, though.
He suggests a bunch of names that he thinks sound strong and powerful but are actually really stupid.
I also see Bakugou with a little girl. Just one, though.
He feels bad that he can't be more involved in his kid's life because of his job, so he only wants one child. He thinks he'll do his best as a parent when all of his free time can be devoted to her.
He also spoils her rotten and justifies it because she's his only kid.
Any fear that he has about his kid being mean like he was completely disappears when he holds her in his arms for the first time and sees that she has kind eyes just like yours.
Having a kid forces him to become a lot more level-headed. He refuses to argue with his baby girl like he used to argue with his mom, no matter how much she tries to provoke him. As much as he loves his mom, the constant push and pull between them is not an aspect of her parenting he wants to carry over.
I feel like he's great when your kid is still a kid, but really struggles with the teenage years. No matter how many times you tell him it's normal, he doesn't understand why she doesn't tell him everything anymore or why she thinks she's too cool to spend time with him.
The type of parent to yell at your daughter to get out of her room and go outside.
Your daughter wants to be a hero just like her daddy. I think a lot of the strain that was put in the relationship when she was a teenager is repaired when she becomes an adult and they start working together.
Bakugou is her favorite parent and neither of you understand why.
