genuinely all you need to know to truly understand homura is that she was raised catholic. that’s it. im so serious. that’s why she hates herself. calls herself a devil and a sinner and takes the blame for everything. kneeling at madoka’s feet worshipping her statue and leaving stains on her legs because she’s tainted. her catholicism is also fundamental from a narrative perspective because madoka could ONLY ascend to godhood because of homura’s religious-like devotion for her. because gods are kept alive through veneration and rituals which is essentially what homura does in her loops (put madoka on a pedestal and perform rituals by doing it all over and over again). and the only way for homura to undo making madoka a god is to act like the catholic (but also islamic tbh) version of lucifer. anyway they needa have a yuri conclave in walpurgis rising

being into revolutionary girl utena is crazy bc you’ll look at a screencap and be like ‘omg… shiori (cut out by juri but yk) is crossing her LEFT hand over her RIGHT hand rather than her RIGHT hand over her LEFT hand like every other girl in the scene, symbolizing her non conforming to society and that she is a lesbian. also the men aren’t crossing their hands which symbolizes they are expected to be like masculine and strong or whatever (also symbolized by their blocky, rectangular uniforms vs the girls’ sailor suits with skirts that have more soft angles) instead of demure and obedient (obedience implied by the hand gesture the girls do). so by still crossing her hands shiori symbolizes that she is still giving in to heteronormativity and patriarchy (as she does by looking at the brown hair guy who i think is right next to her? idk) BUT by doing it in a way different from every other girl there she is also being subtly a lesbian. i wonder if juri is crossing her hands like that too’
