Olruggio is that straight A student kid who loves to find loopholes in authority with hidden generalized anxiety and an unspoken trauma where he blames himself for things beyond his control, but can fake a good extroverted persona, and his best friend is the highly depressed, near oppositional defiance "accident prone" problem child. And he's has stopped counting how many times this one-eyed, clouds for brains has found dumb ways to die, and re-categorized it as childhood shenanigans and adventures. And I'm 100% sure that once the girls reached their teenage years they're gonna be like: "Oh, no Master Olly that was all trauma. That was NOT normal."

I know its nepotism that let Olly be Qifrey's watchful eye, but I just love the thought process behind that. Beldaruit like "my son is going to take on apprentices! I never imagined! But...he insists on leaving me here in the great hall all alone (surrounded by his three other apprentices), which means he needs a watchful eye. I just want him to be happy and well, HOWEVER shall I accommodate his temperament? What? His best friend of all time and the only person he's ever really opened up to is available? They trust each other in a way even I've never understood? He can start today?! Perfect!!"

Is this something Qifrey learned from growing up with Olruggio? When Olly gets stressed, falls asleep at his desk, does Qifrey bonk him on the head with a book? Make him help out in the kitchen as a distraction?

What about when things get really heavy?

When Olruggio is most vulnerable, does Qifrey wrap his arms around him and make sure he knows how loved and appreciated and capable he is?

Or does he only long to?

Out of everyone being bested by a 12yr old my favorite so far is Beldaruit. Because this man raised Qifrey. Knew exactly what circumstances had Qifrey bringing Coco under his wing and still had the audacity to be shocked when he lost.

Like sir. You raised a 'loosely interprets the rules' child. You do not get to be surprised when he then goes and raises a 'twists the interpretation of laws to fit the needs of a situation' child.

The Wise in Teachings gets played by a 12yr old will never not be funny to me.
