The team being domestic is so important to me I actually love them so much 🥺🥺🥺
Autistic Fitzsimmons Headcanons
After particularly hard days, they watch documentaries of each others special interests together under a weighted blanket
Jemma has special interests in sea creatures and astronomy, and loves to collect things related to them. Whilst the lab is where she keeps most of her biochem textbooks, her bunk is filled with non-fiction books, posters, and trinkets relating to her other interests
Fitz is very sensitive to physical touch, but finds it very comforting if it’s from Jemma. When he’s struggling she sometimes gives him deep pressure hugs, and if they’re in public she will sometimes hold/squeeze his hand or put a hand on his shoulder
Upon joining the team Daisy clocks both of them and encourages Jemma to try and unmask and Fitz to embrace the things that help him. This ends up being in part why both Jemma and Fitz start to seem a little more comfortable in themselves during later seasons
Everybody say happy birthday to Daisy Johnson!!
I think one of the reasons that aos found family is so important to me is that whilst each characters has unique specialisations, it’s actually their equally as distinct and isolating challenges that is precisely why they all belong together. Whether it’s autistic fitzsimmons, Daisy’s search for who she is, Jemma’s time on Maveth, Fitz’s brain injury, or any of the team’s individual traumas, they’re all so comfortable with loving and helping each other through situations that they could never know the experience of. And because they all understand what it’s like to have isolating struggles, no one’s experiences are ever too different. In fact, they all genuinely want to learn about each other’s differences - how each other communicates, what’s important to them, and how they can best celebrate with and support each other, no matter how big or small. And is that not one of the strongest and most beautiful demonstrations of love?
Watching the bus kids grow up will forever make me emotional because look at how little they were during season one I’m sobbing
Happy month of May to all who celebrate!!
I just know the bus kids have movie nights together. Daisy probably always picks animated movies with found family, and Jemma probably always chooses either a romcom or a couple of Doctor Who episodes. Fitz probably always picks a monkey documentary, and if he hasn’t seen the movie Daisy and Jemma suggest, he probably asks them to spoil it for him beforehand so he knows what’s coming. I imagine Coulson would join them sometimes too. Not all the time, because he knows how important it is for them to bond together, but often enough that the bus kids always keep an extra stash of popcorn, and let him choose movies every so often as well. Occasionally, when she’s feeling a little bit lonely, May might even join too. Coulson would be the only one to notice her pattern, but would make sure to find a mission for them to go on by themselves in the few days afterwards, just to make sure she knows she’s not alone. And, on the way back home, May would always make sure they stop by a convenience store to get the bus kids more snacks for their next movie night, whenever that may be.
Sometimes a family is a brilliant Biochemist, her husband who's whereabouts and when-abouts she cannot know without putting him in mortal danger, their grandson who is the same age as them, and a Millennium-old Sentient Synthetic being who all live on a time-traveling plane. and that's beautiful.
SOMETIMES a family is a young woman with earthquake powers, her surrogate mother with no emotions of her own, her surrogate father who is now an android BUT has a lot of feelings, and her constantly-bewildered boyfriend who was meant to die in 1955 who all live on a time-traveling plane. and that too, is beautiful.
AND SOMETIMES, these two families (plus a Colombian Speedster with robot arms and her boyfriend, their leader, with his large and powerful form) come together to create one bigger even more beautiful family, who all live on a time-traveling plane.
I will never get over how you can see Jemma’s anxiety softening as Coulson pulls out ingredients to make them dinner. It’s one of the first moments that I think we see her feeling totally and completely safe, knowing that even though she now can protect herself, she doesn’t have to do it alone. And I think it’s also one of the first moments where Jemma realises that no matter how far away she is, both physically and emotionally, Coulson will always be there for her like family.
Can we take a moment to appreciate how hilarious Maria Hill is in her two episodes of agents of shield?? Because like, “I swear I need a cocktail and a lobotomy”?? “If you were my agents, it wouldn’t be for long”??? “And I hoped you weren’t the duplicitous lowlife you turned out to be”???? I’m sorry every single thing she says cracks me up. And we don’t talk nearly enough about her doing things like drawing a porcupine in order to rate Ward’s people skills, or saying “sure Colonel, knock yourself out…” and then proceeding to, quite literally, knock him out. Nah I’m sorry she may have had incredibly little screen time but she’s still one of my favourite aos characters and I will forever quote her daily
Between Fitz really wanting a pet dog and Daisy’s father ending up working as a vet, I fully believe at some point the team adopted a puppy from Cal, and it would’ve ended up being the entire team’s emotional support animal
