Harrow x Ianthe happens in book 2 because freshly lobotomized and cavalierless Harrow is desperate for affection and Ianthe likes how desperate and thus manipulatable she is (that also probably reminds her of Corona but that's psychosexual can of worms for another day)

Ianthe x Gideon happens in book 3 and neither of them are happy about it and happens pretty much entirely because both of them want harrow and this is the closest they can get right now

harrow the ninth Book Of All Time actually. gaslights the audience immediately. doesn’t answer any of the questions from the last book until like 300 pages in. complete perspective shift. complete tonal shift. god is making poe references and meme references in the same breath. blink and you’ll miss it lore drops that are actually critical to understanding what’s going on. so so much grief. Book Of All Time.
