Xurkitree Gijinka OC

Following up after posting Lopunny-Mega (here) and Keldeo (here), here is Xurkitree, an extraterrestrial (Ultra Beast) who took on the personhood of the late Gordon Droit.

It lives in a world of human/humanoid superheroes and supervillains with superpowers and personas taking after a Pokémon namesake. It has strong electric powers, energy absorption ability, the ability to change shape into wires when the ties come off (which is helpful for stealth maneuvers), and skill in building gadgets.

In its home world, the Ultra Plant, it was considered a weaker specimen, relegated to serving dominant beings. Its home was a brutal place, defined by a strict hierarchy ordered by levels of power.

When a human scientist accidentally opened a portal to its world, Xurkitree escaped, killed that scientist, and took his place, fabricating and spreading the cover story of a serious laboratory accident crippling him and changing his appearance.

"Gordon" now constantly walks on his tiptoes with an uncanny, unstable gait; wears strange bandages and braces which stick out of his clothes; grows permanently white, stiff hair; and carries parts and materials unknown to this world in his coat pockets…. He always was aloof, but now he's on another level, never showing his face or speaking much -- poor guy!

Of course, underneath the rickety disguise lies Xurkitree, the supervillain, building gadgets and plotting to take over the world, a feat of which it once could not even dream....

Keldeo Gijinka OC

To follow up in posting new art of Lopunny-Mega (here), I drew some fresh art of a 17-year-old Keldeo gijinka whose real name is Kelsey!

They live in a world of human/humanoid superheroes and supervillains with superpowers and personas taking after a Pokémon namesake. They have a "Secret Sword" which emerges from the diamond-shaped mark on their forehead (can also serve as a horn), as well as weak, untrained water-bending ability.

They're a troubled youth originally adopted by the Swords of Justice, heroes Cobalion, Virizion, and Terrakion. The trio's view of justice was clear-cut, and their agenda raising the new hero, Keldeo, was clear as well.

Projecting the spitting image of good onto the world around them unfortunately allowed for no nuance and no question. This black-and-white mentality in many cases left Kelsey on their own, without guidance, and out of the picture.

After a pretty bad argument, Kelsey finally split from their adoptive family and has been a runaway/homeless youth, drifting on their own ever since. They're a self-proclaimed villain, independently training to become strong enough to rival all three Swords of Justice.

In an unlikely turn of events, however, the undercover hero (masquerading as a villain) Corviknight (a friend's OC) took them under his wing.... How will he influence Kelsey's view of themselves, the world, and morality? Which path will Kelsey ultimately decide for themselves? To be determined!

Lopunny-Mega Gijinka OC

Somewhat cleaned up and roughly colored an old (2023) sketch of one of our characters, a 36-year-old Lopunny-Mega gijinka whose real name is Iris.

She lives in a world of human/humanoid superheroes and supervillains with superpowers and personas taking after a Pokémon namesake. She can fire off super-strong, rapid-fire kicks, and is extremely agile and quick!

She's best friends with Chandelure (a friend's OC), who acts as the "cool aunt" to Iris's daughter, a 10-year-old budding superhero under the alias of Buneary.

Iris is a villain who mellowed out over the years to become more responsible and wise, while her bestie, Chandelure, is still more of an impulsive wild child, roping her into schemes, counting on Iris's responsible streak, foresight, and quick thinking to get them both out of situations at times.

Despite still being a "villain," Iris doesn't have evil motives at all -- she's just trying to make a living and support her daughter, and Chandelure just happens to be the perfect partner-in-crime.

Iris wants the best for her daughter, so she's very encouraging of Buneary's heroic pursuits, and doesn't want her daughter making the same mistakes as she did in her youth. Iris works a day job part-time as a cashier as a back-up, just in case her plans don't work out, to make sure her daughter is supported.

(Of course, Chandelure thinks she's a worrywart and a goody-two-shoes these days -- Chandelure knows where all the rich assholes who deserve to be stolen from live, and knows how to pull off a successful heist! They'll be fiiine!)
