I love Autumn but, I really dislike what it does to my allergies.
Lisette Roberts ▬ Twenty-Seven ▬ First Assistant to the Editor and Chief at Vogue Magazine ▬ Upper Middle Class ▬ FC: Theresa Palmer
+ intelligent, eloquent, passionate - arrogant, withdrawn, tenacious
» Character History:
To begin telling the story of Lisette one must start with her parents; an important part of her life as well as the beginning of her. The reason her parents need to be touched on has a lot to do with the woman’s character and how she came to be the way she is now. Lisette’s mother fell madly in love with her father, who was an American stationed at the Bordeaux-Merignac Air Base with the United States Air Force. He was brutish, aggressive, hot tempered, young and ambitious; whereas Lisette’s mother was from a prominent French family, with airs and graces, poise and political correctness… needless to say their whirlwind romance was far from sanctioned. After Lisette’s father left France and returned to the United States, he promised is beloved that he would return for her; less than a year later he had… they eloped and ran away to the US, ending the relationship Lisette’s mother had with her parents and siblings.
When Lisette was born, she was the second child, her mother and father going on to have a total of five children. Her family life was no different from any other American family, she was born and raised in Boston, Mass. and enjoyed a life filled with stories in French and tales of her father from the war, their parent’s unsanctioned elopement and the passion that still ignited their marriage many years later. She was raised to know of her heritage: learning French, eating French foods, studying both American and French history; even though she would likely never meet the other members of her mother’s family she learned who they were and remembered their birthdays, even if they had no desire to be a part of her life. To this day, Lisette only has contact with one member from her mother’s side of the family, her cousin Samuel.
Lisette knew from a young age she wanted to be a writer, she wanted to write articles for magazines or newspapers and travel the world bringing beauty. It had been her desire since she was old enough to read; so when she became old enough to understand that not all beauty lay in nature or architecture, Lisette became interested in fashion. There was so much to learn about the vibrancy, vitality, grace and beauty that was the fashion world. So, with that in mind, when Lisette was 18 years old and freshly graduated, she high tailed it for New York City after being accepted into NYU as a Journalism Major. After obtaining her BA in Journalism, Lisette decided to continue her area of study by applying for a low level/intern position at Vogue magazine (at age 22) and work her way up the ladder while subsequently earning her MA in Journalism with an emphasis on Magazine Journalism.
At age 24 Lisette graduated from NYU with her Masters and was given a promotion at Vogue to one of the many assistants to journalists. Slowly but surely Lisette has worked her way up the ranks and is now the first assistant to the Editor and Chief, with the hopes of applying for the next Fashion Journalist position that opens up. She’s spent five years with the company so far (3 of which with her MA) and is working diligently in hopes of gaining the position she desires within the next year.
» Personality:
Lisette has always been a passionate woman, the burden of her mother’s French blood and knack for loving all the wrong people; or perhaps the correct person and it being against the rules. Regardless, Lisette was raised to allow that passion to help her, let it drive her; in turn she became an ambitious woman with desires, aspirations, and the attitude to back it up. Lisette became bold, assertive, strong willed and tenacious to a fault; she has always had a way about her, an inner poise and sophistication that was only heightened by her ability to be persuasive when the time came and the need arose. She has always been a bit withdrawn from the party life, finding her ambitions to be far more important than cheep shots and lost nights. She’s maintained only a few long standing relationships and doesn’t really let many people close enough to her to cultivate serious friendships or romances. She can be cunning, clever, and perhaps even a little bit ruthless when she needs to be but never at the betrayal of her honesty or integrity, as she holds those above almost anything else. Lisette can be a bit hot tempered, a trait she garnered from her father, and offensive; when she becomes angry things like politeness and gentility tend to go out the window, which can lead to her being rather rude seeming and even a bit aloof. Beneath all the stone cold determination and almost blind ambition, there is a softer side to Lisette, though few actually see it; buried deep down, hidden beneath layers of “to-do’s” and “forgotten ideals” is a soft, sweet, compassionate, and caring woman. It just takes a great deal of hard work to see that, to get past the cut throat attitude, the sights set on success and the unrelenting, almost obsessive determination that is Lisette’s outer self.

Better things to do than be talked down to for a light hearted joke? Yes.

Relaxation and Deep Tissue {lisette & bonnie}
A couple passed her, deep frowns tugging at either corner of their mouths as she made her way down the infamous Park Avenue. They stared her down, dark eyes following her every move. Did they know her? Did she ever deal to them? The blonde ducked her head as she passed, content to ignore the odd folk.
New York City was full of loonies. Most people walking down the street, the homeless, the addicts, the thieves and the criminals would rob you blind as soon as look at you; cripple you if it suited them, no sweat. She glanced behind, out of subtle paranoia, and was relieved to find that they had disappeared into a crowd of pedestrians. Shaking slightly, Bonnie took a sip off of the top of her coffee leaving a sticky pink imprint on the rim of the cup as she lowered it. This is why she despised going out in public.
Despite her aching body and the eerie couple (the thought of them still playing in the back of her mind), Bonnie was sure that this would be a good day. Lisette’s invitation to join her at the salon was kind and she appreciated it. In all honesty she was lost for words over the whole thing. This woman hardly knew her, yet she had graciously offered a free pass to spend the day in some classy spa in Manhattan. How was she ever supposed to express her gratitude for something like that?
As she came upon the Waldorf-Astoria, she could feel her heart rate pick up. Bonnie hadn’t ever made a habit out of walking around the richer parts of New York. In fact, this part of the city made her vaguely uneasy. She didn’t fit in amongst the men in tuxedos and women with high class dresses and fancy purses. They stood high above people like her.
By the hotel, she could see Lisette waiting patiently for her. Picking up her pace, Bonnie hurried over to the other blonde. “Sorry that you had to wait. I honestly didn’t know the walk would be that long,” she tried to explain, her voice a bit light and breathy from the quick stroll over. “I hope that you weren’t waiting here too long. I’d feel like shit.” An apologetic smile tugged at her full lips as she looked down at the ground, feeling rather shy. Socializing hadn’t ever been something she was good at. In a group she was comfortable but one on one chats usually ended messy.
Lisette heard Bonnie and turned to greet her with a small smile. “It's perfectly all right, you aren't even late.” She motioned for Bonnie to follow her into the hotel as she kept speaking. “My apartment is less than ten minutes cabby from here, so I just grabbed one and headed over, I haven't been here more than ten minutes myself, so don't worry about it.” Walking through the large doors, Lisette looked over at her again, hoping that her smile was at least reassuring. She could tell that Bonnie was worried about being late and Lisette wanted to make sure the woman didn't have that sort of impression.
Walking to the elevator, Lisette pressed the up button and waited for an available elevator to come down; stepping into it once it'd arrived and pressing the button for the appropriate floor. “I've never actually been to this spa, it's not something I do usually but, the certificates were free and I suppose you can count it as perks for working for who I work for.” She smiled again, looking over at Bonnie before nudging her shoulder softly with her own, in another attempt to make the woman relax just a little. For some reason Lisette felt she was on edge, though she couldn't imagine what for.
The elevator stopped, Lisette let the doors open fully before stepping out and onto the landing. A small sigh escaped her lips as she looked around the brightly lit entrance way; suddenly excited to be here. She'd never done anything like this and it was something new for her and possibly something she actually needed, which was always a plus. Walking up to the reception desk, Lisette leaned over it a bit and greeted the woman sitting there. “Roberts and guest.” She said, the woman clicked through her computer and nodded. “Two for the Deep Tissue VIP treatment, correct?” Lisette nodded. “Yes and we'll be using the new scent, as requested.” The receptionist nodded and motioned for them to head over toward the woman waiting beside the desk.
Lisette walked to her and then followed the nameless woman as she lead them to the changing rooms. “Please change in here, put on the complementary robes and slip ons and then enter the lounge through the door opposite the entrance, enjoy your stay.” Lisette nodded in thanks as she walked through the door and hung her bag on the peg for it, slipping off her coat. “Well, this should be interesting, shouldn't it?” Lisette offered, turning a bit to see Bonnie before she walked into a small dressing cubicle to get undressed and slip her robe on.
Relaxation and Deep Tissue {lisette & bonnie}
Lisette had been lucky enough to have the day off, running into Bonnie wasn't exactly planned though - neither was taking her to the spa with her. Though, it was a promising change to her day, Lisette had wanted to go to the spa sometime soon but didn't want to go by herself, even if the passes could be used at different times. In Lisette's opinion it was better to go with someone and enjoy the time than going by yourself and being left to think alone.
Taking out her phone, Lisette looked at the time; it was just now 1:30, which mean that Bonnie should be around at any time. She slipped her phone back into her pocket and looked around, standing in the front courtyard nearest the gate. To be honest, she was rather excited about the spa; having never been to it before, Lisette was interested in hearing about it. Though, she would have a bit more work added to her load when she got back to the Magazine, as the point of the passes were for advertising.
I think my body is broken.
Well I’m free today, but that’s too soon… right? Don’t you need to make an appointment like an entire week in advance?
If it helps, I’m usually free past 12pm Monday-Friday. On weekends I work a lot and then party until dawn.
I could make the appointment for this afternoon, wouldn't be too difficult considering the passes I have. Meet me at the Waldorf-Astoria around 1:30, sound good?
I think my body is broken.
If you actually want to bring me that would be great. I definitely couldn’t pass up an offer like that so, yeah, cool. Sign me up.
I wouldn't have offered if I didn't want to bring you, hun. Just let me know when you're free and I'll make the appointment.
I think my body is broken.
I’m sure they are worth it. The only problem is that I can’t afford it. Never have been able to pay for something like that and I’m pretty sure I never will. No big deal. I’ll just run a hot bath and pretend that I’m at a spa. Add that to my list of things to do on this crummy September day.
Well, if you're interested. My boss gave me her passes to Guerlain at the Waldorf-Astoria. She doesn't like to be touched, so being her first assistant I got them. I don't have many people I could take so... you know, if you wanted.
I think my body is broken.
That’s what I thought. Just figured I’d make sure. Didn’t know whether or not you could be some kind of psychopath.
Anyways, specifically what’s wrong with me is my body. My neck, my back, my shoulders are completely spent. Three fucking nights of going insanely hard on drugs. The dancing did not stop. Now my eyes feel like they’re on fire and I can hardly move. I think I’m going to just lay low, hope that things will get better and watch Home Movies alone. Should be a blast.
Perhaps you need a massage... or a spa day. Sounds silly but their deep tissue massages are worth it.
I think my body is broken.
Why would you kidnap me? Would that benefit me somehow? If it does, be my guest. I’ve never been kidnapped in my life. Could be fun.
Figure of speech. I was meaning it like: take you away from what's bothering you or something.
I think my body is broken.
Not only that but it’s humid and rainy out.
I have more than a few complaints today. Just bitchin’.
What's wrong? Do I need to kidnap you Bonnie?
