Was reading some of my favorite parts from Project Hail Mary just for fun (aka every scene Rocky Grace gets to just talk and banter back and forth), and it just really hit me again that the reason Grace can feel so comfortable with Rocky and why Rocky can so easily cheer him up is because Rocky is first and foremost, Honest.

That seems to be a trait Grace really appreciates from people. I think it's why he worked so well with Stratt, too. Until the thing that broke their friendship was her being dishonest and betraying his trust.

But Rocky is honest, honest. He calls Grace reckless, an idiot, just straight up bad sometimes, lmao. But when he appreciates Grace, he says it straight up too. To Rocky, it is such a given that he cares about Grace that he knows he can always be completely honest with him and at the end of the day, the two of them never doubt that he still loves Grace. Even when he's being stupid. Rocky never betrays his trust, and in turn, neither does Grace.

How lucky he was to take a leap of faith and find the most trustworthy person in the whole galaxy.
