Hey fellas it's. It's brutal out there. I'm not exactly popular but I did have that one post about wizards so if you thought that was funny please listen up for just a second.

I got screwed out of my financial aid after some shit hit the fan last semester and I don't qualify for loans on my lack of credit history. Everyone around me is struggling otherwise I'd get a cosigner. I'm in the cheapest housing they have on the cheapest meal plan they'll allow, going to the cheapest University near me. I worked 3 jobs before my financial aid and Federal Work Study got taken. All this to say I've been doing my hardest and this is a very last ditch effort.

Point is, I need to pay 60% of my bill for this semester pretty soon or they'll kick me out of classes. University isn't just about the education to me. It's where I started to really find myself and be able to openly express my gender and sexuality. If you dont mind sharing this post or sending just a little bit my way if you're able, I'd really appreciate it. I know there's so much going on in the world and so many people in worse situations that need more help, I'm just trying to get by.

Happy Sunday, All!

Here's a photo of me, circa 1988. I was attending the Academy of Art in San Francisco. It was my Sophomore year. I was taking a photography class.

I was 19.

I was Autistic.

I wouldn't find out for another 34 years.

I was an introvert.

I was a dreamer.

I wanted to fall in love... but was always too shy to meet anyone.

I wasn't a good student.

I couldn't keep up with the teachings or my peers.

Everyone else was SO much better at art than me.

But art was all I had.

It was the only thing that made me happy.

36 years later...

I'm still Autistic.

I'm still an introvert

I'm still a dreamer.

I've found love.

And... I'm still making art.

If you love art too... please don't give up on it.

Your 55 year old self will thank you for it.

This may not seem like a big deal to most of you. But, to me, it's huge. My entire life, I've been crippled by panic attacks in social situations. Over 50 years of being afraid to go to weddings or funerals or comic conventions.

But, 3 years ago, I was diagnosed as Autistic.

For 3 years, I've been learning about my disability and going through therapy, and taking steps to advocate for myself.

My panic attacks, it seems, we're triggered by overstimulation. My brain couldn't process all of the noises and smells and feelings and sights. It was too overwhelming, and my body/mind would shut down.

You can see I'm wearing noise canceling headphones. I bring them with me everywhere. It seems silly that this is all it took to stop the panic attacks. But... it works.

I got up and introduced myself, showed a couple videos, and read a whole chapter of my upcoming book (Becoming an Artist... coming out in November) with NO PANIC ATTACK!

I just thought I'd throw this little victory out into the world because we could all use a little victory from time to time.
