For anyone who might be interested, I have a blog for my original series, Alchemystic!
While the name has changed many times throughout the last few years, this series is one close to my heart. Back in 2023, none of my current projects at the time felt right and there was a lot of stressful stuff happening in my real life (work, family issues, etc.), so I turned to the magical girl shows from my youth for some comfort. From there, I was inspired to take all my current projects and mashed them together into one big love letter to the magical girl genre.
Honestly, that was the best decision I've ever made.
Also, I made the blog towards the end of 2025, but I keep forgetting to do an actual proper post for anyone who follows me on here, so I already have some stuff on there and I'm so sorry for putting this off lol
Thinking about a role reversal AU but their causes of death stay the same. Charles was killed in 1916 for protecting someone. He dies alone and cold, but when he wakes up as a ghost knows he's not done with life yet. So he sticks around. The world is huge and now that he's part of the supernatural it's even bigger. He spends most of a century learning everything his curious little heart desires, but his self esteem is still poor so he doesn't think of it as being clever. Maybe being curious and nosy and he likes being able to help people with what little things he's picked up here and there.
89 rolls around and Charles has been digging into some increased dark magic that's been popping up. It takes him to St Hilarions and ultimately to a crowd of boys chanting Latin around a kid tied to a table in the basement. As a ghost he's limited in what he can do to stop them since it's already started, but he hasn't been around this long without a few tricks up his sleeve.
All this to picture Charles blowing magic sand into the demon's eyes as a distraction, before taking Edwin by the hand, and telling him, "Run!" and they take off.
Ok but actually some things I wanted to mention are that main inspiration, like the originals, were inspired by 2000s to early 2010s fashion trends. Also, I did try to make them as unty as I could lol, so I took inspiration from magic winx. I lined them up next to each other early to see what I could change, and I am liking them however they don’t feel fairy enough? But maybe that’s just me because I haven’t designed wings for them. Btw I will include some old concepts I did for blooms believix redesign just in case anyone wants to see that too.
Any constructive criticism or notes would be appreciated:)
JUST IN TIME FOR THE END OF MERMAY BC THESE TOOK A LOT LONGER THAN I THOUGHT THEY WOULD-
My rough concepts for a redesign of Sirenix!! :D
As these are rough there's a chance I will change things (most likely colouring and finer details) whenever I get to making the more finished concepts but I thought this would be a fun way to both jump on this month's art theme bandwagon and get me back into my series of redesigns/rewrites :)
More detailed notes/lore/etc. will be under the cut (plus a bonus extra doodle relating to said notes/lore)!
(before we get to that tho if you do like my stuff a reminder you can pay me to draw things for you!)
So, the 2 big things I wanted to do with this transformation were 1) make it an actual mermaid form because that just Makes Sense imo, and 2) combine the aesthetics of Sirenix and Harmonix into one form, for the sake of mostly my own sanity. Design-wise I mostly pulled from Harmonix (I really like the flowy, more elegant elements of the form, and I thought turning the ribbons on the shoes into arm accessories could be cool), but I also took a few things from Sirenix, notably the dyed hair streaks and some hairstyles (while I don't like the colours they chose for the underwater hairstyles I like the concept, so).
Some of my favourite details are the wings and tails (which are supposed to mimic each other shape-wise, except in Tecna's case because I decided her being an eel was a fun idea since. well. electric eels) and the styles of the tops, which I started doing to incorporate more obvious "ocean" vibes as well as the asymmetrical designs of the tops in both the og transformations.
(I'm also particularly proud of Aisha's hair ngl, genuinely my favourite design out of anyone hairstyle. I wanted smth that wasn't just another ponytail and saw an opportunity w goddess braids and ran).
ANYWAY lore time !!
So in my version of Sirenix, it was an ancient transformation crafted in collaboration with the mermaid-folk on Andros, at a time when things in the Magic Dimension were far more dangerous. It was created to help better defend the Infinite Ocean, along with the various other oceans of the different realms/planets in the Magic Dimension.
In order to ensure the form could not be accessed by those who might use it for ill, access to it was heavily guarded. A fairy who wishes to earn it must complete a quest in which they find 3 gems (one of Courage, one of Empathy, and one of Kindness) and present them to the current Guardian of the Source of Sirenix (at the entrance to the Infinite Ocean). They must also detail their reasons for requiring the form, and access to the Infinite Ocean, and only if the Guardian is pleased with their answers will the power be granted.
Unfortunately, as of the time in which the Winx would go on this quest, Sirenix had been cursed. Politea, one of the nymphs guarding the source, betrayed her fellow guardians to side with the Ancestral Witches. When they ran out of uses for her, they cursed her, transforming her into a horrid sea monster, and rendering traditional access to the power impossible.
(Until the events of season 5 of course but that's a story for ANOTHER DAY-)
ALSO. Sirenix CAN be used out of water. But it's much weaker (think of like. how penguins are kinda clumsy on land but are super graceful in the water. Sirenix is like that). It does have a specific form for this that I am still working on but did a rough sketch of to show the concept:
The promised Soul Eater AU!! This was just an idea in my head for a while until Silk reached out and pitched me some KILLER concepts. Here's the gist;
Trey and Cater are a weapon/weapon pair. Despite being a weapon himself, Cater usually takes on the role of meister, and is on a losing streak of his weapon partners leaving him for other meisters. Trey, on the other hand, was Riddle's weapon partner, but they split around final exams during Riddle's first year because they were never able to resonate. Trey is EXCEEDINGLY normal about this! (pictured)
The AU so far focuses on these two, the freshly-weaponless meister Riddle (and the eel that keeps poking him with a stick), and incoming first year weapon and meister Ace and Deuce.
I have some ideas for the non-Heartslabyul dorms as well, but I'm still cooking for most of them! I have the clearest pictures for Heartslabyul and Diasomnia at the moment. I welcome ideas. And clothing refs. Please god. Here's a ton of words of me agonizing over character fashion.
WOW thank you for the warm reception on the Treycay! This AU has been consuming my brain. I planned on doing Ace and Deuce's designs next, but up until like... Yesterday? I hadn't settled on a weapon form I liked for Ace. Shoutout to Silk for once again bestowing me with the best and funniest idea possible. (pictured)
(He's not JUST a steel chair, of course. You'll see.)
In that downtime, I've been tooling with Riddle and Floyd. Their designs came to me pretty easily: I knew I wanted to give Riddle huge boots and the Maka-inspired long coat, and the rest followed suit. Riddle ended up very Kingdom Hearts-y, which I am delighted by.
Alongside that, me and some friends have been talking worldbuilding! One of the really easy and VERY interesting decisions we came to was having black blood/madness be this AU's equivalent of overblot. They achieve the same thing--a crazy evil berserker state--so I'm gonna use the terms interchangeably. Of course, the exact emotions in each are a little different. This has had...
Interesting consequences.
I'm still working out the exact timeline -- there is a VERY evil part of me that wants to hold off on Trey and Riddle splitting up as weapon and meister until AFTER Riddle has already had his brush with overblot. That would mean that Trey would be the weapon in Riddle's hands when he tries to kill Ace, Deuce, and Cater, which... Is as evil as it is interesting. Decisions, decisions.
In significantly lighter news, regardless of when Riddle gets heckled into accepting Floyd as his new weapon, he gets to deal with frequent phone calls from Azul Ashengrotto as she oh-so-diplomatically tries to guilt trip him into giving her fucking gun back. (pictured)
This dialogue was written by the lovely Coral who DOES NOT HAVE A TUMBLR but is responsible for the ideas behind, like, all my funniest drawings.
