Steve's adventures in babysitting. Stranger Things 2 Chapter Eight: The Mind Flayer | 2.08
Much like Edison fucked over Tesla in a successful attempt to get all the money and influence from the new industry.
sure, i'll drink the pink swirly potion that released a little heart shaped cloud when you uncorked it. what's the worst that could happen
donāt be scared to live lovingly. compliment your friends on the little things and cheer for live bands in small cafes and leave tips when you can. tell the person you saw that you really like their shirt and write cards and letters to the people you love. make playlists for people and donāt be afraid to express your appreciation for others. life is so much better when you live it with love.
You know what an xxFJ feels, but you don't know what they think.
You know what an xxTJ thinks, but you don't know what they feel.
You donāt know what an xxFP feels; only they know
You donāt know what an xxTP thinks; only they know
May the Grace of the Valar protect you.
knitting/chrocheting while hanging out with friends is so funny like everyone shut up for a few minutes i have to count to 115. twice
one of the best ways iāve found to combat that inherent depressive pessimism without veering into toxic positivity territory is simply the phrase āiām open to the possibilityā
this particularly works with anything negative iāve forecasted. āi woke up feeling like shit today, so my day is gonna suckā isnāt a particularly helpful thought, but āitās a great day to be alive!!!!!ā feels hollow and insincere when i have a pounding headache & am running on three hours of sleep
instead iāll tell myself, āi really donāt feel good right now, but iām open to the possibility that coffee and breakfast might perk me up a bit.ā or āiām in a lot of pain today, but iām open to the possibility that my workday might still have fun parts despite thatā
sometimes, when your impulse is to slam the door on anything good, but youāre not exactly up to going out & hunting it down yourself, leaving the door open just a crack makes all the difference
We are so trained to look back on our younger selves and be like god I was so cringe for that 1 meanwhile it was you acting like a child as a child
I mean I know a certain level of projection on fictional characters and situations is inevitable and even healthy, but sometimes you got to step back into the real world to remind yourself that Character X is not your shitty parent/abusive ex/asshole boss/bully from high school, and that people who like Character X are not personally victimizing you.
yes critical analysis of media is super valuable but I think suspension of disbelief isn't practiced enough
"the beginning relied so much on fate/chance meetings/a bizarre set of circumstances that could have solved the conflict if avoided" babe that's an inciting incident
to reiterate my point more clearly: suspension of disbelief and understanding conventions of storytelling is critical analysis while nitpicking like you're cinemasins is just annoying
one thing i need to start living by is ābecome the thing that you wantā if i want friends who throw themed parties maybe i should start throwing those parties. if i want someone who writes me love letters maybe i should start writing letters for the people i love. if i want to hang out at museums and pretty cafes maybe i should invite my friends to these places. and maybe even then i wonāt find the kind of people i want to be around. but then i would have become the exact person i want to be around. and maybe thatās good enough.
"The research was conducted by the deVere Group, a leading financial advisory, asset management and fintech organizations, and it surveyed more than 750 clients under the age of 42 using the deVere Crypto app" (source)
ok so they surveyed people that are already into crypto, meaning the whole thing is literally bogus
A better headline would be: "Less than half of people actively invested in crypto would prefer part of their paycheck be in crypto."
Yes, such a claim makes him look like a small-minded piece of shit. To us. But we still shouldn't help Musk create revisionist history.
Musk bought Twitter because he fucked around and found out. He wanted to fuck with Twitter's stock price by feigning interest in buying it. Since that's illegal, he was then cornered into actually buying it for an insanely inflated price.
He's a transphobe. He's a bad father. But he's also a fucking idiot.
This. Please remember that he committed blatant market manipulation by not disclosing that he owned shares of Twitter when he was fucking with the stock market. The SEC was watching him very closely already, and so when the cost became more than what the entire company was worth, he had no choice. Remember when he had his gaggle of lawyers try to get him out of it by saying Twitter didn't disclose all of the information? That wasn't Twitter, it was him trying desperately to get out of a purchase he didn't want in the first place.
āWe always seem to find our way back to each other.ā
Awake, Arise, or Be Forever Fallen ā season 2, episode 18
Being a fan of The Chosen is, from a certain secular point of view, a little bit unhinged. The book has been out for 2000 years. The main character and several of the (male) supporting lead characters are going to die painful deaths either during the story or in the epilogue. The people they leave behind are going to suffer. This is based on the history of a religious movement that attracted persecution and created martyrs. You, the viewer, already know about the tragedy that is coming for all of your faves and yet you signed up for it anyway. Absolutely bonkers.
