Monestir de Moldovita / Moldovita monastery (2) (3) (4) by SBA73
Via Flickr:
(2) Tocant la toacă / Playing the toacă. This wooden musical instrument is extremely simple. Yet it's very important in the life of the orthodox monasteries and churches. In Greek is called semantron or xylos. (3) (4) El setge de Constantinopla / The siege of Constantinople. This fresco painting is located on the exterior of the church of Moldovita.
from @romania on ig . “What is it about a winter storm that stirs something ancient in the soul? The Vaser Valley, cloaked in its alabaster raiment, offers a tableau of unearthly splendor. Here, amidst the Maramureș wilds, the venerable Mocănița train, a relic of steam and iron, threads its way through the vortex of snow. Each whistle is a hymn to forgotten epochs, each puff of smoke a specter lost in the whorls of a celestial blizzard. It doesn’t merely move through the storm—it communes with it, drawing the heavens to earth in a cosmic embrace.[…]”

I’m sure no one will ever read this so it’s just a thought dump.
But does anyone ever look at their partner sometimes and just get lost in them?

Reading back through all my old journals has been like walking barefoot through the sand and then stepping on a bunch of rusty nails without wearing proper shoes.
Like damn, I knew there was possibility of those nails existing, and I knowingly took those steps but I didn’t expect it to fuck me up so bad. Didn’t I?
I’m somehow still angry; maybe even angrier than I was back then when I was 21 and 22. Angry that I was naive, that I swayed so willingly under the thrall of men, that I didn’t see these wolves in sheep’s clothing for what they were.
That some good dick was enough to make me think they valued me as more than just a convenient lay. I even told myself, multiple times, that I was being used and I didn’t even bother to listen.
That’s the thing about walking around blindly. I was too focused about the feel of the sand under my feet to realize it was a dangerous minefield.
yo I’ve been single pretty much my whole life. I can’t really imagine the next 9 years to be any different haha. you’ll probably find someone before me!
The way I immediately met someone after this and then married him in 2022 😬😬😬😬 sorry Anthony haha 😂
Irene just got to Chicago and I am so damn jealous because I’ve been dying to live there for almost a decade. I fucking love that city. That place is my goddamned dream.
2024 update: Yup. Living here is awesome.
if your boyfriend doesn’t worship your butt then he’s a lame and i’m very sorry you have to deal with that
Another update to past self: Evan definitely does this even after 10 years 🥹
one day, i won’t be stressed out like hell and struggling to barely keep my head above water. and when that happens, i will take charge of my life and do what i fucking want. and i will be happy.
unfortunately, that time won’t be for another week or so, after i’ve finished my last class.
dreaming of my road trip and taking time to explore, try new things, and just capture a lot of the beauty I have to ignore otherwise.
Update past self: you are still super stressed but you are mostly happy because you married the LOYL and have two cats and go to baseball games a lot.
NGL, part of me is wondering if I have the ability to even write in a happy relationship. My best writing came from very intense depression and heart break.
What does happy writing even look like?
