Do you ever just stop and think:
“I really miss Steve Irwin” ?
Yes. Yes, I do. This man was one of my heroes - he wasn’t like most animal welfare activists who only focused on the cute and cuddly mammals and birds everyone likes. No, he wanted us to like and respect animals that are unjustifiably hated and feared, like snakes, crocs and sharks. He wanted us to respect and love all wild animals, no matter how “scary” they are. Hell, he was actually afraid of spiders, but he still wanted to teach people they were important. To him, every wild animal deserved to be loved, from the biggest whale to the smallest insect. People needed to know that. The more you learn about “scary” animals, they become less scary and more fascinating. It deeply saddens me that children today won’t grow up with this man teaching them about how amazing “scary” and “ugly” animals really are.
