repeat after me. humans are not inherently evil humans are not like a virus on this earth humans do not “deserve” to go extinct or anything like that. we are living breathing animals that deserve space just like every other creature on this planet. there’s just a tiny amount of us that have a fuck ton of money and power and they really suck

I feel like a lot of people get "All Art is Political" confused with "All Art is made with Political Intentions" which is not the same.
there should be big extended events in tomodachi life, like there should be a chance for one if your miis to spontaneously develop a zombie virus, and a zombie apocalypse starts on your island and lasts until one of your miis develops a cure or everyone is infected. (once everyone is infected it turns out there actually was no virus, and everyone was just kind of placebo'd into believing they were zombies)

there are so many lines in I Saw The TV Glow that go so hard. "there is still time" is the one everyone talks abt, understandably. but also
"I found my heart, Isabel. I found yours too. And it was still beating."
like. even if you don't know it. your heart is still out there. YOU are still out there. it might be far away, on the other side of the tv screen, but it's still there. and it's still alive. it refuses to die.
i think that's what i saw the tv glow did honestly.
that moment when you're watching it as a trans person, and every cell in your body is begging her to not stop, to not run away, please please please. you need to see it more than you've needed anything. and then she does. she sees everything inside herself in a bathroom all alone where we've all been, and she closes it all up, her emaciated and sickly body barely holding her up, and she walks back into an arcade room apologizing for her outburst to a building full of people who refuse to see or hear her.
and then you realize, while your chest feels like it might just cave in under the pressure, that this film refused to afford you the relief of seeing someone else do what you must, to give you that false and fleeting pressure eased. no. if you want this film to have a good ending, you have to make it yourself. you have to do what she could not, because otherwise, well. you just saw your future.
how i feel right now
ohhhhhh we're all gonna die okay
honestly i could handle the remake looking like a fanmade recreation in unreal engine if i felt like we had any guarantee they weren't going to touch the lore at all, but i'm very concerned that they're going to try to 'fix' certain things and make the parts that are already bad worse. plus i think they might actually be framing it wholly as a retelling of the story of OoT, not necessarily as just a modernized way to experience the same story? i could absolutely be wrong, it could just be a gimmick for the trailer, but like
like. the monologue is directly based on the Deku Tree's first-person intro monologue from the original game. in the trailer, it takes a lot of those same phrases and changes the pov and tense, so instead of the Deku Tree describing things that are currently, imminently happening, it's a speaker from the far future (in a post-Hyrule setting, apparently) describing events that happened far in the past.
after thinking about it, idk whether or not i'd prefer it to be a remake of the same story, or for it to have the plausible deniability of being itself a retelling of that story. in the first case, if they make shitty changes, obv it sucks because it explicitly and directly attempts to revise the original work. but even in the latter case, while it would ostensibly be an attempt to keep the original canon intact, i feel like it would've only been formatted that way specifically for the purpose of being able to alter big aspects of the original story and world. like, technically without disturbing the source material, but functionally setting itself up to disturb it as much as possible.
obviously remakes shouldn't be conflated with remasters, we can't criticize it for being more than just graphical improvements, and it does make sense that they'd want to start from scratch on a modern & more accessible gameplay format for this game. but i feel like they've also set it up to be able to alter the narrative as is convenient for them to make it mesh more with TotK, ideologically speaking. and i think it would take away a lot of the enjoyment i personally would have about reexperiencing this specific Zelda narrative in an updated format, if it turned out to be just. a completely subjective, revised spin on that narrative.
It's been just over a year since Deltarune chapters 3 & 4 released! I did the 3D work, which mostly means Tenna 📺 I figured it's been long enough to share some "behind the scenes" stuff, starting with a look at the Maya file for his static poses...
I'd individually render the poses to get that early 3D shine ✨ Here's some of them at their original resolutions! I would work from text descriptions from Toby, and sometimes there'd be a Paint sketch to help out. Gigi drew the concept that I modeled from and some poses too!
I had a lot of fun pushing myself to match the dynamic poses Toby had in mind for Tenna - making him so crazy and expressive was something I couldn't have done without his prompts. He'd draw the faces on afterward too, which really brought Tenna to life!
(lots more after the Read More cut...!)
