Yes, absolutely dismantle the gender binary. BUT dont forget to dismantle the sex binary too. Intersex people exist and they regularly get ignored in both queer and non-queer spaces. There are NOT only two sexes, and us perisex trans people CAN NOT forget that or else we will become like our oppressors, people who say there are only two genders and that what you are born as is what you must stay as. Intersexism must be stopped.

Appreciate this post OP, and I'm going to add for the audience - there are also not three sexes. Intersex people come in more variations than you can count. To break the sex binary, you gotta really BREAK it.

And this isn't bc OP implied this, not at all - this is just a common thread that people jump to. "Not two? Okay then, three?" More. More than that. Naturally. Only two hospitals in the US don't do surgeries on intersex infants and the ones who do keep statistics (hospitals aren't required to) reported surgically altering 95% of all infants born with intersex traits for two reported years in a row.

The binary is created with violence. Break it for real.

Polyfragmented DID is a term mostly used in online spaces, to describe dissociative systems with a lot of headmates (the general consensus seems to be around 50+), complex patterns of splitting, tendency to split frequently, and complicated system hierarchies. However, this term was not created by the internet…

What do we call the Dysphoria Alters get about the body not being theirs, or a condition not bring something they deal with?

Is it just simple Body Dysphoria? Or does it have another name? Should it have another name? It is a very specific experience to OSDDID. Like what do we call it when we look in the mirror and it's 100% not us? Or when we feel a pain that we would NEVER feel in our usual lives?

Does anyone have a name for this?

We sometimes call it and related stuff identity dysphoria, but i think the word dysphoria itself fits

Y'all really need to learn about DID more outside the context of alters. DID is not just "disordered plurality" - It is a developmental disorder, an attachment disorder, a posttraumatic stress disorder. It is comorbid with many other issues, such as somatic pain syndromes, physical health issues, and a variety of mental illnesses. It is a complex organization of symptoms related to the disrupted healthy development of a child, both in terms of their body and their mind. It is not just about the alters.

Today we realised the reason we never felt like grounding works, is our dissociative brain. We can function while being very detached, dissociated.. so we can answer the questions people use to ground us, but be completely disconnected from anything we’re experiencing. We’re not present. We’re not grounded. We’re just surviving, complying. We don’t often know what’s going on in our system. We don’t know the right words. If it’s a part of dissociation or a switch to someone who is just very detached but either way. It’s the same result.

For the longest time we felt like we were doing something wrong. We didn’t understand why grounding didn’t work. It just felt like a distraction at best. But we also didn’t have the space to be able to speak about it, so we didn’t even really think about it. Now we have a counsellor that we know will try to adapt anything that doesn’t work for us, so we were able to really figure out what was wrong. Hopefully we can find ways to make it work & practice not just going into this detached/dissociated state when we’re suppose to be grounding. Maybe it’ll help move forward in the trauma work to finally be able to ground. We’ll see.

I was asked about transness by an older man at work, which I was open to discussing. But the first thing he asked when he found out my agab was if I had breasts.

Something really not talked about with trauma disorders is the paranoia.

Being scared and jumping to conclusions when people stand a little too close to you, not believing people’s compliments and thinking they have hidden motives, not believing when people tell you they like/love you, thinking that strangers you see on the street want to hurt you, etc.

True DID culture is having to block 90% of system blogs you find, including ones you used to follow, because the blatant misinformation, encouragement of malingering and active promotion of delusional thinking makes you want to shove your head through a fucking wall and you lose all sense of tolerance and benefit of the doubt
