Advice for the Lsats?
Take a prep course! I used a 6 week Kaplan class and it worked for me. But if you do take a prep course, you have to do the work, and you have to stay focused. Its useless if you pay a bunch of money for the course and then half ass it. Also, taking the LSAT more than once is good. I only took it once because I didn’t need an amazing score to get into the school I wanted, but many people score a few points higher on their second try.
Also, after having been in law school, I think the most important part of the test is the essay. You need to show you can pick one side and argue for your side and against the other.
Bring a snack!! Seriously, a granola bar, or some fruit and peanut butter, and water. I think they still give you a break and let you eat snacks.
But the LSAT is nothing like what law school will be like, so take a course, get the score you want, and then get going on your applications.
Lastly, watching CSPAN (a la Elle Woods in Legally Blonde) will not help you with the LSAT, just fyi.
Lawblrs: what “technology miracles” have you performed that have amazed your boss/coworkers?
I was telling someone about how amazingly tech-not-savvy so many lawyers and judges are (and not even just the older ones), so I started making a list of all the times someone has thought I was tech genius for doing something pretty straight forward with software/websites.
I’ll start:
Added footnotes to a document (specifically, she was amazed I managed to place all of the footnotes on the right page, even after we substantially edited the document–word does this automatically)
Combined several PDFs into a larger PDF
Used search and find in Adobe Reader to find a term in a 300-page transcript rather than having to flip back and forth between the term index at the back
Used Westlaw to quickly find an old version of a regulation and figure out how many other states had similar regulatoins
Verified the plot number and titled owner of a property using the GIS software on a county’s website.
Changed the font of a coworker’s email signature
Set my Out-of-Office Autoreply
“Rescued” a document where the formatting had suddenly become all wonky and red (they had received edits back from someone using track changes in word)
Reblog and add yours. I’m trying to prove to a friend that this is not just me in having lots of one-off experiences with tech challenged legal professionals. Examples could be past or current jobs. Bonus points for how straight forward the task actually is.
My boss had me drive 25 minutes to meet him in court because “the speaker isn’t working.” He hadn’t turned it on.

My Answer: Putting up with your bullshit for the last six months
Just kidding, I wrote about arguing motions and completing a marathon of discovery responses. But in my heart, my biggest accomplishment is not losing it everyday.
I’m just going to leave this here. Not every DA is a bad person/DA, but they hold the freedom and lives of every criminal defendant they charge in their hands. They cannot be allowed to “slide” for something like this. If DA’s are “swamped” then dismiss the cases you can because the evidence is exonerating. But also, where was this guy’s PD/Defense attorney? Slacking too. There is rarely justice in our criminal justice system.

Phase 1: First time I read through.
Phase 2: When they make some interesting counter points I hadn’t thought of.
Phase 3: When I completely lose faith in my ability as an attorney .
Phase 4: Coming back around to liking our argument.
