An Atheist perspective on the Bible. Genesis: Chapter 1 :)
Hypocrite christian girl
Episode 2. Why Steve Harvey is an idiot.
Episode 1 :)
More on the absurdly religious antics of my favorite musician of all time as told by Kevin Smith. Enjoy!
How religion has made Prince even more crazy
If you ask anybody that knows me and had them them name my favorite musical artist. They would all tell you the same answer. It is none other then Prince!
Prince Rogers Nelson was born on June 7, 1958. Usually just known as Prince, he is an singer, songwriter, musician, and actor. Prince has produced ten platinum albums and thirty Top 40 singles during his career.
Prince has had so many amazing songs over the years as well as written tons of other ones for many popular artists. Some of these songs are "When you were mine" (Performed by Cyndi Lauper) and "Nothing Compares". (performed by Sinead O'Connor)
It blows me away that he has turned absurdly religious. Years ago most of his songs were very sexual in nature. I wonder how many people realize his song Little Red Corvette was about a vagina?
From Wikipedia:
Prince became a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses in 2001 following a two-year-long debate with friend and fellow Jehovah's Witness, musician Larry Graham. Prince said he didn't consider it a conversion, but a "realization"; "It's likeMorpheus and Neo in The Matrix", he explained. He attends meetings at a local Kingdom Hall and occasionally knocks on people's doors to discuss his faith.[114] Prince has reportedly needed double-hip-replacement surgery since 2005 but won't undergo the operation unless it is a bloodless surgery because Jehovah's Witnesses do not accept blood transfusions.[115] The condition is rumored to be aggravated by repeated onstage dancing in high-heeled boots.[116] However, when Prince was interviewed in 2010, journalist Peter Willis said he believed the rumors of Prince needing double hip surgery to be unfounded and untrue as Prince appeared to be agile.[100]
First of all I don't care how anti religion I am. If Prince knocks on my door and asks me to check out his church. You can bet your sweet ass I'm gonna go just so I can hang out with him. Also I know the Matrix can be kind of confusing to some people but there absolutely no way in hell that the Jehovah's witnesses are anything like it! What I am really worried about is the fact that Jehovah's Witnesses refuse blood transfusions. That is down right scary and dangerous.
It boggles my mind that he has gone from singing "Pussy Control" to being offended by swear words said in his presence. The Jehovah's Witnesses have been ridiculed for many things by other religious groups. I honestly can't express how silly his faith is compared to the other groups because I think they are all illogical.
Naturally, a lot of people will give me crap and say Prince was crazy before he got hardcore into religion. I would be inclined to agree under the terms that a good chunk of it was show business and his oddness was a positive, fun crazy.
More or less I just wanted to point out how religion can make crazy people even crazier. Its also probably why he hasn't had a decent album past 2001. Regardless of any of it he is still "His Royal Badness" and is one of the best musicians that has ever lived.
haha good stuff
If you are a non believer, why bother talking about religion?
I often hear this a lot from people. "If you don't believe in religion, why do you care about the subject so much?" Its a fair question I suppose. First and foremost I believe that there should always be an alternative for people when making a decision. This could be as non important as a selection of Pepsi over Coke or a more important choice such as choosing ones faith over another. Many religious groups seem to take it upon themselves to actively behave like army recruiters. Their main objective is to get people to join them under the fear of some sort of eternal damnation or the promise of some form of eternal happiness. Many of these members are probably like me in the case of being hooked at an age where we have not yet developed the mental capacity to think for ourselves. Many of us have been told these things as cold hard fact in spite of how questionable these claims may be. Many people may feel angry at the concept of being told what "fact" is regardless of having no substantial proof of it. We are in an exciting age of increased thinking and scientific discovery. We are not in the dark ages where what we do not understand can be explained in a two thousand year old book. Many of the notions can easily be dis proven scientifically or morally in today's age. In spite of these facts we still have many people choosing this book as the end all be all authority of how to live ones life. Atheism, Anti-Theism, Agnosticism or whatever title for the lack of belief you would have has been regarded as immoral for the longest time. Until recently, you typically have not been able to speak out about this and express our thoughts and ideas on the matter. With all of these reasons I believe it is the best time to engage peoples minds and give them another choice. It is always good to have an alternate choice from the hundreds of religions that are trying to get them to join their groups. Many people just accept what they are told rather than finding answers for themselves or truly see the contradiction of what they are told. Unlike religious people I'm not here to tell people what they need to believe in. I just want them to think about why they believe these things and if it really makes sense to them.
One of the most despicable websites I have ever come across
So I have come across one of the most pathetic piece of garbage websites I have ever seen. The crazy thing if you look at the title you wouldn't believe it. The website is called: http://www.christiananswers.net I was just browsing to see what the "authority" on the bible tells people when they need answers. As I was browsing I became pretty disturbed with the bigotry they produced on the question of homosexuality. Here is the exact link: http://www.christiananswers.net/q-eden/edn-f019.html I will quote certain sections of this garbage to produce a proper citation to the "Authors". This will also show that I have not altered any of this.
For the Bible-believing Christian, there can be no doubt that homosexuality is a grievous sinin the sight of God. The awful catalogue in the first chapter of Romans of the sins practiced by the ancient pagan world began with this sin:
For this cause God gave them up unto vileaffections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another: men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. —Romans 1:26,27 (KJV)
The term “sodomy,” named after the inhabitants of Sodom whose homosexual perversions caused God to rain fire and brimstone on theircity in the days of Abraham (Genesis 19:4,5,12,24), has for thousands of years been synonymous with this unique form of ungodliness. That it is basically a sin of rebellion against God is evident from the above passage in Romans.
So basically what they are saying is god hates homosexuals so much that he destroyed an entire city because of it? Seems a bit harsh don't you think? Especially from the same people that tell you that god loves everybody. Don't worry there's more....
The “cause” for which God “gave them up to uncleanness through the lustsof their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves” was that they had decided to “worship and serve creation more than the Creator” (Romans 1:24-25 - KJV). Because such behavior is essentially animalistic, rather than human, sodomites are actually called “dogs” in the Bible. Note the strong prohibition in the Old Testament theocracy established under Moses.
There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel. Thou shalt not bring the hire of a whore, or the price of a dog, into the house of the Lord thy God for any vow: for even both these are an abomination unto the Lord thy God.
—Deuteronomy 23:17,18 (KJV) We can be sure that, if these practices were abominations to God then, He has not changed His opinion about them today.
So according to the bible and this website, god hated fags then and god hates fags now. How very lovely of him. I like that is also reinforces that a woman is a whore if she sleeps around but it says nothing about a man doing it. Is it just me or do women constantly get shafted (no pun intended) when it comes to this whole religion thing? Oh look its still bashing homosexuals...
The same terminology appears in the description of the holy city in the last chapter of the Bible.
Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, andwhoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
Notice the Bible refers to homosexuals as dogs. Take a good look at the other kinds of people they classify them with. Seems a bit extreme don't you think?
—Revelation 22:14-15 (KJV) Now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner, with such an one no not to eat… Therefore, put away from yourselves that wicked person. —I Corinthians 5:11, 13 (KJV)
Now the bible is saying don't even associate with a gay person or many others for that matter. So much for Christians having any friends. For as many times as I hear only god can judge you, the Bible sure says otherwise...
Thus, sodomites—like sorcerers, whoremongers (same word as “fornicators”), murderers, idolaters and lovers of lies—should undoubtedly also be excluded from church fellowship. I,f such a person, professing to be a Christian, persists in his sin, he should be put out of the church, like the one who had committed fornication with his stepmother (I Corinthians 5:1).
If you are a true Christian get the terrible people out! The are obviously as bad as murderers! Give me a break...
Homosexuality, like all other types of fornication, has no place in the family of God. Regardless of what modern promoters of “gay liberation” might wish to believe, sexual perversions are not inherited genetically but rather are learned behaviors and willful sins. Like alcoholism and other such sins of the flesh, they may become very difficult to give up for those who have been enslaved by them, but God is able to give deliverance to any who sincerely desire true freedom and salvation.
Wow.... How very ignorant. The AMA had officially declared alcoholism as an "illness" since 1956. I love how these arrogant assholes have not only declared themselves the authority of morality but now they are also liscenced physicians as well. It is amazing how this basically says that god can magically treat alcoholism better than the good folks at AA can. My father was a severe alcoholic and he had much faith in god. God obviously was not strong enough to help him as much as Alcoholics Anonymous did. As someone who has had their family torn apart from this, I find myself very offend by this bullshit claim. It is also utterly irrational to say that homosexuals have a choice in who they are attracted to. I don't think gay people who truly desire freedom and salvation need to go through god. They definitely seem more to have more salvation and freedom when they can be themselves and not worry about persecution of their beliefs and lifestyles.
To “straight” Christians in the church, however, the familiar old admonition to “hate the sin, but love the sinner” surely applies in such cases. Homosexuals, long accustomed to being looked upon with disgust by most people, are understandably anxious for acceptance by society. Nevertheless, they must not be encouraged to continue in their wickedness, for it may well cost them their eternal souls. Instead, they need to be “loved into the kingdom,” being delivered first of all from their rebellion against God, then to Christ for salvation and cleansing.
Hate the sin, but love the sinner? Are you people insane? Earlier in this garbage, they quoted a Bible passage of god destroying a entire city because of homosexuality and now you are supposed to love them? Quite hypocritical if you ask me. You are supposed to love them as people but not tolerate who they are? How is this possible if you are supposed to cast them out of church because of it? Why in the world would people say the Bible is where to get your morals from when it is so full of hate?
Notice Paul's testimony concerning the very real possibility of such deliverance:
Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, noradulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, …shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye aresanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
—I Corinthians 6:9-11 (KJV)
When there is true repentance and the sin is forsaken, then such a person should be lovingly received into the fellowship of believers(or back into that fellowship, if previously excommunicated), like any other repentant and believing sinner. This is the example given in the case of the incestuous Corinthian: Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many. So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow. Wherefore I beseech you that you would confirm your love toward him.
Anybody find it kind of ironic that with all of this no homosexuality talk there is a an absurd amount of man on god love going on?
—II Corinthians 2:6-8 (KJV)In spite of great pressure today from humanists and other liberals to get homosexuality recognized as an acceptable—if not even preferable—life style, the Bible makes it plain that it is really unnatural and animalistic wickedness that must be rejected by true Christians.
Apparently no matter how hard we try to treat homosexuals equally in today's society, the Bible still wants us to remember they are wicked animal heathens that must be persecuted by Christians. So much for that is gets better campaign. Lady Gaga is gonna be sooooo pisssed.
At the same time, we cannot forget that Christ died for their sins, as well as ours. They are still objects of His sacrificial love, and we should seek earnestly to bring them to Him for cleansing and deliverance.
I guess sacrificing your only son is fine but taking it in the butt is not. I don't know about you but I find this all to be absurd unintelligent bigotry. There are many Christians out there that will say that they do not believe this and god loves homosexuals too. To that I say you are just as ignorant as the people that persecute gays because you base your beliefs on the vile book as well. I myself am not a homosexual. I do however respect that they have the right to live in a style that fits them and makes them feel happy. What they do is in no way even close to the same level as theft, rape, murder, lying, drinking and the other things the Bible declares is wrong. In case you are unaware of my opinion on this topic so far, the gentleman on the right of this picture can give you a hand:
What is the Purpose of this blog?
I created this blog to share my beliefs (or lack there of ) from an Atheist Perspective. I have adamantly looked for answers that concern the purpose my existence. Growing up in a non religious environment I was free to peruse my own quest for personal faith and belief. As a child I searched for answers by going to church with one of my best friends at the time. His name was Tony. We lived in White Settlement, Texas and had a lot in common. We were also only raised by our mothers at the time. He went to church regularly and I would occasionally attend with him to see what it was all about. That was the first true start of my path to religious knowledge. I also visited many other denominational organizations with friends as the years passed. I will talk about these experiences later on. When you are young it is quite awe inspiring to be told that there is this an all powerful creator watching over you. He also loves you so much that he sacrificed his only son for everything you have ever done wrong. It was comforting and also very scary at the same time to me. (Especially the images of poor Jesus being crucified everywhere you looked) This changed my outlook on life in many ways. It didn't necessarily make me love my neighbor and be charitable. I was going to be a good kid anyhow because I had a sense of morality long before I went to church. It sure had me begging this guy in the sky for help whenever I did something bad or had some kind of emergency though. As a child the answers that were given to me for my religious inquires were fine because I had not yet fully developed the rational thought processes that I have now. As I got older the answers that would have appeased me then seemed to make no sense and contradict themselves as I put more thought into them. I felt terrible at first because I started to feel guilty questioning my faith. I wanted to believe in god very badly. The problem is the more answers I looked for caused me to believe even less. Scientific proof along the writings of amazing intellectuals such as Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, and Steven Hawking have made much more sense to me than a two thousand year old book that appears to have more holes in it than Swiss cheese. There have been many well know individuals who have felt the same way I have. Like them I have feared persecution for my lack of belief in things that do not particularly make sense to me. This blog is dedicated to people who want to live there lives without the illusions. Nobody should feel persecuted for their lack of faith. I will show examples of things that have caused me to believe in what I believe in. I am offended at some of the awful things religion has caused in the course if our history. My main goal is not to offend people but to open their minds for them to think for themselves.
