heartbreaking:
girl has sooooooo many ambitions and ideas for projects but can only get 1.5 basic tasks done per day
If anyones interested in learning about the first black vampire short story, published in 1819, heres a link to the wiki, its called The Black Vampyre, and its about a former slave turned vampire who seeks revenge on his slave master. Its actually a first in many categories!
you can read the story itself here
Not only is it the first Black vampire story, it's the first comedic vampire story, the first story to include a mixed race vampire, the first vampire story by an American author, and probably the first anti-slavery short story. Some scholars believe that the text was written in response to John William Polidori's The Vampyre.
Here is the actual pdf from the site since you have to click around from the above link to actually get to it
This is your reminder to never shop at hobby lobby
This is all true and why it’s always correct and super easy to steal from hobby lobby <3
The one near me doesn’t even have cameras in half of their store. It’s so easy. The security devices at the door are fake! There’s nothing for them to detect!! Steal from hobby lobby
"but stealing is wroooong!!"
Yeah well, hobby lobby stole the epic of gilgamesh... like the fucking original clay tablets.
I am not even joking:
Why is this not the only person writing for Batman ever
THE ENDING
Hallmark Movie tropes where a woman visits her rural hometown and fall in love with a random camo wearing musclebound white man because of the power of Christmas, and then leaves her successful city job, and cuck boyfriend to be said man's submissive wife is conservative and possibly even white nationalist propaganda.
In this essay I will...
[ID: tweet by Russell Sahw @therussellshaw that reads: Ladies: before you quit your high paying ad exec job in the city and move in with the handsome charming flannel-wearing Christmas-loving man who runs an adorable small business in your hometown, remember to ask where he was on January 6]
that's cool! who's the dude just chilling there?
I’m guessing it’s the dude that got “passed over” considering he looks like a Generic Country Singer
Random country singer dude who had a hit covering her song maybe? Fast Car is not a 2023 song.
The guy is Luke Combs, who covered the song this year, and it went to #1 in the country charts
Tracy Chapman won the CMA for song of the year for it, because that award is for songwriters, and she wrote the song
@waknatious I'm tagging you since I'm adding extra info after you already saw it lol
I'm actually surprised that this cover was never discussed on Tumblr, tbh, because Luke Combs didn't change the words. He said he didn't want to make it his song... it was his favourite song as a kid, and he wanted to expose a new generation to it, but he also wanted them to know the original, so he left the lyrics the same.
So like... the #1 on country music stations featured a man singing the line "I work in the market as a checkout girl". Which like... you would never expect from country music.
But I think it was the right thing to do, because if he'd changed it, there probably would have been a lot of people who didn't realize it was a cover
it's a decent cover, too.
I like how there was a brief surge in thinkpieces over whether it was appropriate for him to cover it, and she immediately shut them down with "No, I like it and it's making me a ton of royalties, so go away".
🤌🏻
Someone said in the tags on a reblog and now I can't find it that Luke's version has transmasc vibes and I dig it.

But it was the fear of showing my true heart, at times either so full it might burst or so empty I could cry, that hounded me most viciously.

everyone’s hallucinating. Red guy is having a baby, yellow guy is doing a sick air guitar solo, blue guy is getting shot in slow motion and beige guy just got out of an imaginary divorce.
beige guy just kicked EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE WIGGLES IN THE BALLS and is standing in the middle of the carnage, contemplating life

The ninth doctor was so insane fr he was like I watched my planet get destroyed and I can't share this trauma with anyone. I will fix this by befriending a human girl and taking her to see her planet get destroyed. This is normal behaviour.
it's a lot harder to sidestep 'catastrophizing' thoughts when the outcomes you're concerned about have already happened to you multiple times in similar situations in the past
the advice around anxiety tends to assume that your concerns are unrealistic. sometimes they are not.
you still need to figure out ways to handle the anxiety so it doesn't make shit even worse. but starting from a place of assuming all anxieties are irrational isn't helpful when you're scared about real things
