Amongst all this news about COVID-19 and isolation/quarantine i think it’s important to remember to take some time for self-care, especially if you suffer from mental illnesses. some things to remember and try to do even if it is difficult:
open the blinds and let sunlight in, look at the grass or trees or any nature that you can outdoors. if you have plants then talk to them, take care of them, and enjoy their beauty. try to have a normal sleep schedule, go to bed at the same time each day and wake up around the same time each day and remember to take your medication if you have any.
shower, keep yourself clean, put on your favorite lotion or perfume just for you, brush your hair and put it up however you like. allow yourself to relax and take care of yourself. remember to drink plenty of water!
create! cook or bake, draw, write, work on your book, dance, do yoga, study, do something that makes you use your imagination.
have fun, do things that make you happy, like reading or redesigning/cleaning a room or playing a game. drink your favorite drinks, if you have them, tea, coffee, hot cocoa, etc.
call people! call and talk to your friends or your family, spend time with them if you live with them! if you believe in a deity, talk to them, if you have plants, talk to them, if you have pets, talk to them! or even talk to yourself, find out more about yourself during this time, find self-love within you.
take time for yourself and be kind to yourself, meditate, relax, and if news sources cause you to be more anxious then avoid them. this shall pass, as all things do.
