I just learned Indiana (USA) State Fair has a llama costume contest...

I spent the past 15min looking at costumed camelids thanks to you, this is incredible 😭 Thank you for this important piece of llama trivia!

(Hard not to picture a fascinated alien scientist trying to explain to their alien colleagues that these super interesting little monkeys who keep inventing all this strange but complex stuff like smart toasters and online music streaming will also sometimes go "time for me to dress up my pet llama as a banana split" and other hairless monkeys will react like "give that genius a TROPHY." The alien audience blinks. Alien scientist courageously starts explaining each word individually; we'll go back to absorbing that sentence later)

People who either have never seen a camel, or who thinks a fresian is Normal Horse Size.

When you look at other camellids, like llamas and alpacas, you wouldn't necessarily assume the difference in size from them would be so big. So I think when people haven't seen a solid size comparison of a camel to anything else, but they've seen one of maybe an alpaca, they might assume camels are probably no larger than a horse
