1 - angel olsen - burn your fire for no witness

i lovvvved this album and listened to it a lottttttt all year.  it is the literal perfect combo of sad introspective folksyness and angry/happy punkyness.  it's hard to even pick one song, you should really listen to the whole thing.  the lyrics ring really true and i love how she sounds like an old fashioned country singer sometimes.

2 - st. vincent - st. vincent

she's so weird and perfect, ugh.  and basically, so is this album.  the trumpets.  the guitars.  so funky.  like it a lot!

3 - hundred waters - the moon rang like a bell

this album is so ghostly but also really powerful.  there's so much to it and it's so BEAUTIFUL that it's really easy to put it on repeat and listen to it forever.

4 - perfume genius - too bright

i heard this song and it was so striking and great and i was instantly hooked.  the album is really great too because sometimes the songs are really simple and intimate and sometimes they are really weird and glamorous.

5 - real estate - atlas

kinda sweet and kinda sad.  the guitars are just so pretty and i like that they got a little folksy sometimes too.

6 - the war on drugs - lost in the dream

this album was like the perfect combo of kinda spacey instrumentals and bruce springsteeny rockiness.  never thought i needed those two things together, but it's really good and i really liked it.
