Backrooms posting because this movie has been on my mind since I watched then I rewatched it and I just really like it ok
it misremembers
backrooms movie rambling below, tw self-harm/suicide mentions
i think it is possible to both acknowledge that clark did bad things and/or he is a bad person and ALSO feel sadness and empathy for him. resistance to change is such a painfully human character flaw, and i do think that he was deeply deeply flawed -- he had a lot of issues! and he really had no redeeming qualities in the movie! but he was clearly someone who was struggling with a lot and stuck in a rut (obviously through his own actions a lot of the time) and he didn't deserve his end... to be violently consumed by a physical manifestation of your own negative traits is very reminiscent of how i felt when i was heavily depressed and self-harming/suicidal, so that scene really struck a chord with me
i think maybe his character divides people so much because he feels relatable in a lot of ways; haven't you ever felt like you're trying so so hard and getting nowhere? haven't you ever had to give up on a dream for the sake of surviving real life? haven't you ever come to the sobering realization that this is it; there is nothing bigger and better for you; not fame, not money, not happiness, not family, just whatever you can scrape together for yourself so you can be just kind of okay? haven't you ever wanted to blame someone or something else for your failures, and free yourself of the guilt and the shame and the disappointment in yourself? i'm not saying any of these things are right, not at all, but i do think i understand him to a degree, and i don't think it's unreasonable to feel for him. obviously he is taken to extremes though
i also definitely think that the backrooms took these negative traits and amplified them, and that clark at the end of his life was not the same man that he was at the beginning of the movie. just like how listening to the echo chamber of your own mind will make you spiral into your negative habits and can completely change you into a miserable angry sad person and make connection with others very difficult/impossible
idk i have a lot of thoughts on this movie lol i could probably go on for a while, i didn't draft this post or anything so sorry if it's disorganized/strangely worded. i see a lot of children on tiktok acting like people are crazy when they say they felt bad for clark and i KNOW i shouldnt even be listening to the opinions of children on tiktok but like.... je suis irritated ❤️
Same as it ever was

It's important to have at least two blorbos that fit into specific roles in your life
The blorbo you can look to in hard times, and ask yourself what they would do in a situation, and draw motivation from them on how to be better and stronger!
The blorbo you can look to in hard times, and remind yourself that no matter what happens, you probably aren't going to fuck your shit up as much as they did even if you actively tried
I think making character playlists is good for you and connected to analysis skills in a very fun way and low investment way. I know its seen as quite trivial but to me it operates the same way looking at a lot of art builds ur skills passively. Yummy enrichment activity
Pride sharks! Happy pride month :D more super cute pride flags themed sharks coming soon 👀
Remember when I was going crazy 5 minutes ago [chuckle of fond remembrance] amazing how time changes people
This is why Pride is not just a party. It's a joyful celebration, but it's also a pointed and colourful two-finger salute to a world that stood back whilst so many of us died. And we'll never go quietly, never again.
the complex? idk, its quite simple actually
i don't intend on coming back
