I know the majority of us aren’t really fans of wattpad as a platform, but screenshotting a wattpad fic to post and mock an author is still an asshole behavior btw.

if it’s an asshole move when it’s done to an ao3 fic, it’s as much of an asshole move when it’s done to a wattpad fic or a fic from any platform.

like. I feel like mocking fics are so normalized on platforms like twitter and tiktok where algorithms and “going viral” are so important to so many users there for whatever reasons. but fanfic writers aren’t writing to please your personal liking or preferences. you read their works for free. if you don’t like what you’re reading, quietly click away from the fic. or one day writers will just stop sharing their works because entitled people can’t be decent and respectful to artists.

Authors are humans, too and we have feelings just like you!!!

Imagine going through depression and writing is your only light at the end of the tunnel, and you push through, only to see people mocking your fic on other platforms!

If you are going to criticize, do it in the fic, so they can make it better suited to their target audience! (this is called this foreign concept called helpful feedback, by the way)

not using AI genuinely feels like the rest of the world is experiencing some kind of mass amnesia. if someone says they never use it, the immediate response is that can't be true because "everyone" uses it to write their emails or answer their questions. saw a comment suggesting that not using chatgpt to write an essay is "like the 90s". girl I graduated in 2021 and we weren't doing that! how is it that everyone has suddenly forgotten that they were entirely capable of doing these things all by themselves for their entire lives up until the past few years!! am I going crazy!!!
