Holy shit this is. Well. This is quite a perspective shift. It's easy to forget how slow global social progress is in this era of rapidly changing cultural niches.

39 out of 200ish countries recognize same sex marriage, and the number is slowly going up at a rate of roughly 2 per year.

That's 1% per year. The world is improving at a rate of 1% per year. That's the real speed of social progress. It's not nothing, but it is painfully slow for us here in a world made up of social media.

This Doonesbury abortion cartoon was originally written by Gary Trudeau in 2012, in response to a Texas law requiring women to have an ultrasound before an abortion. It was banned from many major newspapers, and they ran syndicated cartoons in its place.

Now seems like an appropriate time to bring these cartoons back, with the passing of Texas’ new law requiring the burial or cremation of miscarried or aborted fetal remains. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if Trudeau decides to write the sequel.

I apologize if this has already been submitted/asked, but I would highly recommend WickdConfections on youtube (unsure of her other socials, youtube is the only one I use). She did a series during Black history month that I’m fairly certain she has continued into the following months of finding and making Black American recipes and talking about the history behind them and their impact today. If you’re into food history at all I think you should look at her and that series in particular!!
