Hello hello! I'm looseleafteeaves(they/them, born in 2000), I'm an author on AO3 (found here), and I jump around ALOT. I'm currently catching Star Wars ideas in my brain, but there are some Blue Beetle AUs, Fantasy High HC, Percy Jackson HC, and BOTW/TOTK AUs but that is subject to change!
I do alot of offline world building with my little brother, @two-turtleducks so if something is ever not explicitly written on here, I probably talked about it with him.
Questions about anything on my page is 100% A-OK, and if I don't want to answer, I won't.
If you are less than 18, I ask that you refrain from sending messages, though asks are fine, because I am not comfortable interacting with you in a way that could be construed as private.
ARCHIVES:
General Information
#feed the machine- a tag for anything that involves worldbuilding for any fandom.
#turn up turleducks- tags for stuff with my little brother @two-turtleducks
#feed the rat that powers the machines- when people ask about my headcanons
#teeaves feeds other people's machines- asks!
Star Wars AUs and Information:
#teeaves does star wars- catch-all tag for anything and everything star wars
#teeaves does amatakka- this tag holds language work that is physically written, or involving other people's headcannons/ideas. This is in no means meant to shame, it's just a sorting tag.
#teeaves translates into a fictional language-this is where I translates fanworks into amatakka. Current focus is @sparksinthenight's work, but I'm willing to do so for others! Just send me a link!
#Sowing Wildflowers AU- pretty new au involving the clone wars, and after they are won. Features mostly OCs.
#Desert Speaker AU- Involves between the prequels and the OG trilogy, a slave on Tatooine flees, and stumbles across Old Ben. Omi(the slave) is force sensitive. This brings to light alot of things that Old Ben didn't know about Anakin. This also involves more of the jedi surviving, and maybe a jedi temple on Tatooine.
#jedi + tea universe- this is clone centric! I have a post that explains the OG point of this AU here, not formal tea stuff here, and clone stuff here. I love my JT droids and t-squad!
#Facing the Krayt AU- Leia is stuck with Jabba far longer. This has consequences.
#i tell this story to save your life - a newer tag I am using for any Ekkreth Tales I write on AO3
Blue Beetle AUS
#teeaves does blue beetle- covers most of my blue beetle content.
#desperate measures au- time travel blue beetle, Jaime and Khaji Da try to stop the future, which is a little darker, and has a deeper impact. Combo of young justice and blue beetle movie canons.
#spine of steel au- khaji doesn't know exactly what they did to Jaime. But the logs let them know.
#eons au- has nothing yet, platonic soulmates khaji and jaime.
PJO AUs and Info
#Aspects AU- all important info is explained here
#Hera's Ruling AU- Hera is respected like the OG greeks would have.
TMA Stuff
#teeaves does TMA
Fantasy High
#teeaves does d20 fh- anything relating to fantasy high
Thats the most active parts, I will update this post as things change!
Hello ATLA fans! With the recent changes to Fandom Metatags, a new change is coming to the way the Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise fandom on AO3 is structured! Don’t worry, the existing fandom tags will remain as they are - this change will not impact your ability to search for works in specific fandoms (i.e. Legend of Korra, The Chronicles of the Avatar novels, etc.).
What is changing is that we are creating a new metatag for the fandom!
What is a metatag, you ask? Great question - think of metatags (and subtags) like file folders on your computer or in your Google Drive. In this analogy, the metatag is the top-level folder and the subtags are sub-folders that live inside that top-level folder.
New ATLA metatag: Avatar: The Last Airbender & Related Fandoms
All current and future ATLA-related fandoms will be sub-fandoms ("subtags") of the new Avatar: The Last Airbender & Related Fandoms fandom metatag. Currently, this includes:
Avatar: The Last Airbender (Cartoon 2005)
Avatar: Legend of Korra
Avatar: The Last Airbender: Chronicles of the Avatar Novels - Various
Avatar: The Last Airbender (Live Action TV 2024)
Avatar Legends (Roleplaying Game)
Avatar: The Last Airbender (Video Games 2006 2007)
Avatar: Realms Collide (Video Game)
There is no 2010 movie in Ba Sing Se The Last Airbender (2010)
As new ATLA franchise canon is released, those will be added as subfandoms as well. For more information on the hows and whys, keep reading below the cut!
Why are we making this change?
In short, to make it easier to filter and search for what you’re looking for!
Franchise-wide searching: Don’t care which part of canon is included in your search? No problem! Filter/search using the new metatag (Avatar: The Last Airbender & Related Fandoms) and all the fandoms listed above will be included in the results.
Specific sub-fandom searching: Only interested in works tagged as Legend of Korra or one of the other sub-fandoms? We’ve got you covered, too! Simply filter/search using the subfandom, and you’ll only see results that have the sub-fandom tagged. And if you want to exclude works where some or all of the other sub-fandoms are tagged, you can still do that as well! Just add those fandoms under the exclude filter.
Crossovers: Don’t like crossovers with external fandoms? Or maybe you LOVE crossovers? Either way, this change is good news for you! By organizing all the ATLA subfandoms under the overarching metatag, works that are tagged with multiple ATLA fandoms will no longer be treated as a crossover work by the filtering/search system! This means that:
When you exclude crossovers from your search, works tagged with multiple ATLA-related fandoms will now show up in the results (since the system no longer considers them to be crossovers since they are now all part of the same fandom tree).
When you include crossovers in your search, works tagged with ATLA fandoms and non-ATLA fandoms will still appear as usual.
Other ATLA Wrangling Tips
Beware the blue people Avatar! While you’re always welcome to tag your works however you like, we recommend selecting your preferred ATLA fandom directly from the dropdown or using phrasing specific to ATLA. If you tag your work’s fandom just using the word "Avatar" or something similar, you run the risk of your work being listed under the James Cameron Avatar franchise instead of ATLA. Tags are wrangled based on what they've most been used for, and many "Avatar" tags have already been made synonyms of James Cameron Avatar fandom tags.
Speaking of the dropdown - mind the dropdown! Because AO3’s dropdown prioritizes results that list a word multiple times, the first result may not always be the result you’re looking for. For example, the fandom for the ATLA novels is Avatar: The Last Airbender: Chronicles of the Avatar Novels - Various, which includes the word "Avatar" twice. We recommend double-checking what tag you select from the dropdown to make sure it's the fandom tag you intended!
Happy tagging! If you have questions or need help, please contact Support, who will be happy to offer any necessary guidance.
(From time to time, ao3org posts announcements of recent or upcoming wrangling changes on behalf of the Tag Wrangling Committee.)
i think it’s well past time we retconned Shmi Skywalker don’t you?
(oh she can still die tragically in Anakin’s arms to start him down the path of darkness, but give her character some character)
give us Sky Walker Shmi, give us the child who was stolen from the sky (canon; she was the daughter of some spacefaring traders who ran afoul of pirates and sold into slavery), but who’s fall was broken by the Desert
give us Amavikka Shmi—give us Bride of the Wind, Wife of the Sand, she who took up the mantle of the All Mother and refused freedom while any of her children still wore chains
(Anakin can still be the snapback in the Force caused by Palpatine’s experiments—I quite like the idea he unknowingly seeded his own downfall, but)
give us a reason it was Shmi this life sparked within—not a Force User, but like her grandson-to-be, named for Lukka, the sandstorm, Force Used, a conduit, a vessel—
you want to lean into the Mary Mythos angle? Give us Bendu coming to her in a dream and asking her to swallow a stone—
Not justice, he warns her, but vengeance, and many will fall so that he will rise, but in the end there will be balance—
(give us Shmi who was not a saint mother, but an angry one)
Shmi who can’t do anything flashy like move a tin can across the table but who can feel where the bombs in her fellow slaves are, who learns to use a scalpel to free the truly desperate (or to free them, because to the Amavikka the words for death and freedom are the same—where there cannot be one, there is always the other…), who the eyes of others slide off like water—even the seeking—even Qui-Gon Jinn—
give us a Shmi would wouldn’t have gone with the Jedi even if they had been able to barter for her freedom—
(though she would have been tempted)
(so tempted)
(because he was so small and so soft and he smelled like water and his eyes were the color of the Sky and his pudgy baby little fingers wrapped around hers so tightly and she never knew you could love anything so much it terrifies her—take him take him take him do not give me this choice—vengeance is nothing—and justice is nothing—I can’t do this—but I can’t do this—how can I do this—how do I do this—don’t look back vikka you were born to Walk the Sky)
—because her work is here on Tattooine, and it will never be finished, but she cannot abandon it.
i love seeing what everyone does with Shmi in fanfiction but I feel like canon writers really wouldn’t have to stretch very far to give us a Shmi with character/agency/reasons for what she did in canon.
(it would also plug the debatable plot hole of why Anakin didn’t go back and free her sooner if as a child he knew just enough about his mother’s secret work freeing slaves to know she wouldn’t come away with him)
Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. 🧡🧡🧡
(psst - it's anaben but tumblr won't let me use my pseud to ask)
Probably Spine of Steel(complete), Desperate Measures(in progress), Desert Speaker(in progress), Amakuuna and the First Trick of Ekkreth, and Facing the Krayt.
Honorable mention: How the Amavikka came to know Tzai
Reason for lapse in writing: a book im trying to publish by Dec. 31st.
Thanks @anabenalia for the ask! Now @krayttahrei-adragonsfriend @yellow-faerie @nittusidhe @sereinsidhe @bairnsidhe tag ur it!
Love how tumblr has its own folk stories. Yeah the God of Arepo we’ve all heard the story and we all still cry about it. Yeah that one about the woman locked up for centuries finally getting free. That one about the witch who would marry anyone who could get her house key from her cat and it’s revealed she IS the cat after the narrator befriends the cat.
An excerpt from my original work, The Labyrinth Paradox
My goal is to write, edit and publish by December!
Naus keeps one eye on it, and one on the surrounding walls. "Oeo, could you hold on to me without assistance? I need my hands."
"Not particularly well, Naus. I am an intelligence assitant, not a laboring one."
"Thats what I was afraid of." He slowly turns his sling back to the front, and withdraws an extra sandal strap. "This may be a bit unconventinal. Settle on the bag so you can watch my six, we'll do a quick and simple rope harness to secure you. Hopefully, Birdie and Maitai got our scans and submissions. I'm not sure how useful that will be if we die here."
"Simple solution then, Naus. Do not die."
"Oh great, thanks alot you useless hunk of-" Naus is interrupted, even as busy fingers tie the strap into a three part harness, securing the small construct securely against Naus's back. The wolf's lunge takes it directly into the wall, seeming to jam the jaws as they lock wide open. Naus tucks into a small roll, and bounces to his feet, sprinting down the corridor.
This is from what is currently Chapter One, of my first draft. It will likely be moved to chapter 2 or even 3!
rereading childhood books is fun because 1) nostalgia, 2) i forgot about that part!!! 3) surprising amounts of sarcasm, and 3.5) "adult" humor you missed the first time around
rereading childhood books is frustrating as an adult bc of the constant little alarm screaming in your head about how many child safety and labor laws are being violated per chapter
how are they gonna adequately prepare whatever child they cast for nico di angelo. it has got to be impossible for someone that young to give informed consent about playing the saddest wettest loser in all of human history. like hey kid i know youre sprightly and all of ten, but we need you to be in all five stages of grief at all times. remember, your mother was killed in fascist italy, youre eighty years old, and now youre in love with the guy who killed your sister. say this next line like you know what it's like to be an ear of corn.
I've been thinking a lot about feral Lucy. I've loved that idea since I first discoverer it, but it doesn't really fit with any of my current stories, so I've been trying to come up with a new one centered around this idea.
The idea I came up with actually affects all four siblings.
...
The Pevensie siblings all came into Narnia when they were very young and still growing and changing. The magic of the land seeped into them and changed their bodies so they were no longer fully human.
Lucy spends a great deal of time with the animals. Specifically the wolves and big cats. the predators. they raise her to be one of them. Her eyes turn catlike, her steps become soft and soundless, and her canines sharpen. Her knives become her claws and she uses both them and her teeth in battle. She runs with the wolves and howls at the moon. She latches onto her siblings as pack and makes them have family cuddles. She growls when she's upset, hisses when startled or scared, and develops the ability to purr when happy and content.
Edmund spends a lot of time with the birds and griffins. He becomes as silent as an owl, and develops the ability to see in the dark just as well. In times of light his eyes function similar to a falcon's or an eagle's, able to pick out details at a far distance. He loves high places and when absent could often be found in the rafters, on a high parapet, or out patrolling on griffin-back. His reflexes are sharp and quick, able to strike almost as fast as a snake. He sometimes makes little chirping noises and when he's truly furious and lets himself express it, he can let forth a terrifying screech. It's also his battle cry. He loves shiny things and unless he's in sneaking mode will often have something shiny on him. his siblings will also give him little trinkets and pretty rocks they found as random gifts. thoughts are his favorites.
The other two were a bit older and thus went through less drastic changes.
Susan spends a lot of time with the dryads and naiads and she grew to have an uncanny grace in her movements. It was very unsettling to any humans they met. That, combined with her great beauty tended to leave them speechless in her presence. She was also incredibly flexible and could bend her body in ways that few humans are capable of.
Peter spent the majority of his time with Oreius and the other centaurs. He became both much stronger then most humans and far stronger than he looked; and he didn’t look weak. He also became and incredibly fast runner. He never fully realized his enhancements because he didn’t meet with humans often and when he did, and he engaged in challenges with them, they competed in skill rather than strength or speed.
